that shootout move was the difference between a contract extension and being waived

I'd definitely put in a claim from PHI. Not sure if Homer does though.

I suspect there will be. He is a decent energy player and is great in the locker room. I suspect that DD has proven to be a better asset than Daugavins.

I hope that he gets picked up for his sake. If not, he will be a huge addition to Bingo.

The Sens have so much depth that this was going to happen eventually. I was hoping that management would be able to turn these players into assets, but guys like him are not that hard to come by.

O'Brien, Regin and Benoit are likely the next guys to go, but that will happen next year. In fact, I am pretty sure Benoit was on waivers already this year. Thankfully he was untouched. He will have a better chance of getting picked up next year.

That's what happens when you think the NHL is a circus with that clown move he pulled. Now he has to pay for it.

Decent energy guy that can fill in on the PK quite well. Not sure if anyone would take him though.

Victim of the numbers game in the Sens bottom 6.

I love how everyone is blaming the shootout move. He's a scrub to begin with.

I wouldn't mind the Leafs trying him out on the 4th line. Anything is better than Orr. ANYTHING

Might be a bad move by the Senators. With the run they're on, built largely on a team-first we-can-do-anything vibe, it seems like a bad idea to dump a guy who his teammates LOVE. The other night when he scored his first goal of the season and skated by the bench barking, you could see on his teammates faces how much they loved the guy. I really question this move when things are still going well.

Yes, he was waived because of the move...

Anyways I think this might be a scenario in which a player wasnt going to get much playing time with depth on his current team and asked to be moved.

Limited offense at the NHL level but he is a great penalty killer and is strong on the boards. He is a good fourth line guy and hope to see him get claimed. He will be missed in the sens locker room that is for sure.

Exactly why I want him on the Flyers. Put him with Talbot and Rinaldo and that's a damn good fourth line. You can never have enough positive guys in the locker room either.

He's 1/4 in his career in shootouts. He's not even remotely a shootout specialist, nor is he used as one. He just isn't as useful as the 7/8 guys the Sens already have for their bottom 6, not including the various other currently in Bingo

There should be a gif where Daugavins pulls the SO move, blips out in front of Rask (like that Datsyuk gif), and then reappears on the bench in Binghamton.

He was popular with the fans and really loved by his teammates.

Good PK and energy player and a good antidote to an unhappy locker room atmosphere.

lol Sens didnt want to sign him to a 1-way deal anyways. Shootout move has nothing to do with this.

aww, i feel bad for daugy, but he was basically a 13th forward for us. I think someone grabs him though - RFA, 24yo (will be 25 for next season), can play about 2mins a game on your PK, and a guy that any lockeroom will love.

If no one does, look for him to head back to his hometown Riga Dynamo of the KHL next year, where he played during the lockout and talked at length about how great it was to get a chance to play offensive minutes for a change.

the timing is strange. I kinda expected the sens to let him go this summer (not tender him), but we're a playoff team now and he's essentially been the #2 PK forward on a pretty good PK team (though that part has more to do with goaltending than anything else). I cant imagine they are going to give dziurzynski or kassian his PK time. If the sens make a move, look for it to be a PKing forward.

Anyways, if someone does take him, happy trails rooster. Still holding out hope that he slips through and we can keep him for the playoffs.

I liked his carefree attitude. Always upbeat and generally tried hard, even though he's not the most talented player. The shootout attempt had nothing to do with this, particularly since he's had success with that move in the minors.
