Jussi Jokinen doesn't seem like a guy that goes on waivers. There isn't a GM out there willing to send the Canes even a 7th round pick for this guy? Even with one more year on his contract, he would be a good pickup for the playoffs.
It's common sense to think Jim Rutherford would have let GM's know he was going on waivers, so if you *really* want him, let's make a deal, even for a 7th round pick. GM's are obviously willing to gamble here by letting him go to waivers. I would think Chevy may not be interested. Given we are middle of the pack, there are a lot of teams that have to pass in order for us to make the claim. If Chevy really wanted him, he'd trade the depth draft pick for him to secure the player, is my guess. Unless Chevy values those late draft picks *that much* that he's interested but willing to risk the acquisition to waivers.
I kind of doubt Chevy is too interested. And I gotta say, Jussi Jokinen doesn't exactly play with many of the qualities we as an organization covet. Easy to play against? check. The type of player who can get the job done against other big, tough, physical teams? I don't think so.
After originally thinking, hey, why not? I am now thinking Chevy doesn't make the claim. Kind of hard to pass on a cheaper contract, good faceoff man, 40-50 point guy when you have very little depth, so maybe we do make the claim? Just don't think I'd be surprised if we didn't. If we don't I hope it means Chevy has other moves on the go.
Look....we need any skilled player to play with Kane....the guy is all by himself....this is a no brainer if we can get him....Canes fans say he has been horrible this year....Well from what I have read he and Muller didn't get along at all so thats going to bring any guy down...I think Jussi would be out to prove something and would be a huge upgrade to play with Kane and in the faceoff circle....just saying
If the Coyotes fall out of the race, would they be looking to move Klesla to get his salary off the books?
Would Phoenix be interested in dealing guys like Stone or Schlemko? Stone's a righty (which we don't need), but is 6'3" and from Winnipeg (not saying that is a key factor, just putting it in there), and Schlemko is a lefty who is behind Yandle and OEL.
Would it be a possibility to trade Hainsey for more than it would cost us to acquire one of those guys?
This is under the assumption that Hainsey is not going to resign, the Jets would like to get something for him, but would like to have something in return that would lesson the impact of the loss. (I.E. Trading Oduya, but getting Clitsome to lessen the impact).
I would hate to give up a first, I don't think the Jets are in a position to trade first round picks yet... But yeah, I think I would do the same.
Kane - (potentially Scheifele?) - Ryan
that would be a sick top 6.
Honestly we'd be sitting on a hope and a prayer that the 1st turns into a reliable 30 goal scorer (with limited PP time). Acquiring Ryan would turn the Jets into one of the more dangerous 5v5 teams in the league.
I'd love for us to get Bobby Ryan. I'd easily deal Burmistrov (very comparable to Couturier) + a 1st to get him.
Don't see the jets moving a 1st at this point in their team build.
Ryan would be a nice add, though. Don't think the ducks will move anyone before the deadline, just add. They are not far off and will battle the hawks for the west conference title. If they move Ryan, they'll look for scoring in return, imo.
