Two scratches in a row for Nancy Drew, wow. I'm certainly not disappointed.

From that same article

Quote:
There’s no real change in the status of struggling winger Drew Stafford, who was scratched for Saturday’s 2-1 win in Montreal. Stafford has four goals and a minus-12 rating in 31 games.

“He’s just got to work hard and he’s got to get himself in a situation as a leader to be working hard every day,” Rolston said. “So we’ll see, but we’ve been having success lately and we’ll see what shakes tomorrow.”

How can Sekera be a healthy scratch on this team??? ridiculous...
oh right, we must be too afraid of hurting J_r_an Le _p_l_'s trade value

Maybe the last guy on the team I'd want to trade. Hasn't become valuable enough to merit a major trade, but could easily step right in and be a top 4 player next year when other guys move on. He has to have WAY more value to us than others.

No way. Once this kid puts on some mass, he'll be a fixture in the top-4 for years.

I think Sekera is around 80% right now. No need to rush him if he's not 100% no big deal to me he will play on thursday..

Only obvious answer is League office hasn't yet received the trade paperwork for #3.

And, with Stafford scratched again, we can hold out hope it is a package deal!!!!!

Don't want to mess with the success of a one goal victory while being outshot 39-18, eh Ron

If they're auditioning Pysyk for anything it's whether they can roll with him for the rest of the year or if they have to get a journeyman D back at the deadline to replace Leopold/Regehr for the rest of this season (with Pysyk back in Rochester). Pysyk is the kind of asset you only trade if you're a buyer--and buying something really nice.

I laughed!!!!

Seriously, Sekera must not be 100%.

edit: How about leaving Stafford with Gary Roberts, and tell Drew that he won't play for BUF again until Roberts says he's ready.

Intensity seems to be Drew's issue, not conditioning and diet.

Leopold is playing so he can be traded. Hope he plays better or he'll net a 20th round pick

This idea that Sekera has been some kind of stalwart for us is kind of out of control. He's been ok this year but has had plenty of inconsistent play as well. The idea that he's so far above and beyond everyone else and needs to play is laughable.

Yes, cause he's about the same as Jordan Leopold.

No way Sekera is healthy.

I'd say he's been our second best defenseman this season, once again. You don't healthy scratch that if he's ready--and, hey, he may not yet be 100% yet, in which case I understand this move. Otherwise, if he's healthy, this is pretty silly. The others are probably correct that there'll be many scouts there tonight and they'll want to get a look at Leo, who's being shopped hard.

Sekera isn't a healthy scratch .. per Kevin Snow:
Quote:
Drew Stafford will be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game along with John Scott, and defenseman Andrej Sekera will miss his fifth straight game with an upper body injury. Rolston said that Sekera is “real close” to returning, but wouldn’t confirm if he’d be ready for Thursday’s game against the Florida Panthers.

It's gotta be that he's close to but not at 100%.

And even if he hasn't been above and beyond everyone else, he's certainly been good enough to qualify as someone who should be in the lineup every night. I know he's played well but I'd still scratch Pysyk for Sekera and send him back down if all was well. I'd prefer to scratch Regehr or Leopold of course but the deadline is coming up and the showcase is on.
