Kings-Rangers

get

Roman Hamrlik
2 3rds (take your pick, we have 3) OR Brian Boyle

get

Dustin Penner
Jordan Nolan

We really need some depth at F, Pyatt and Boyle are offensive black holes and Miller isn't producing.

This would drastically hurt our depth. you can trade for one but not both without a forward coming back.

A veteran stay-at-home defender. Something they're lacking since Mitchell and Greene went down.

Do you want Boyle back, we keep our 3rds?

Cant trade him (Hamrlik) this year as he was picked up off waivers. You would have to pass him through waivers again.

It's not Hamrlik as the centerpiece, it's the picks. I'll revise it.

Has Roman played more than 8 games for the Rangers? Is he a healthy scratch or has he been injured? I know he is a UFA after this season but is he still effective? 12 total games this season and a -3 isn't great but I haven't followed him at all.

Penner for a 3rd and 5th would work. Nolan is tough to give up. Plays every position really well, has a solid overall game with good O skills. Is developing into a solid 3rd liner who can fight too. Big kid hits hard. We have Andreoff down on the farm who is readyish and can fill the loss but I hate to move Nolan.

Make it 3 3rds and a 5th for Nolan and Penner and i wouldn't cry about the value from a Kings pov.

Rangers would get Penner for the rest of the season as a try out and with you guys playing a slightly more open style to us maybe he finds his O touch again. If not big bodied guy who can be effective.

You also get Nolan who is just a very solid big young bottom 6er with good upside.

Kings are in a win now mode too so I doubt a deal like this would get done but value wise it seems alright.

Rangers would get

Do not want give up Nolan...
Good size, speed, physical play and has some offensive potential.

Hamrlik looks fine, but we can't trade him.

Horrible for LA. Give us a roster defenseman if you want those two. We're defending the Cup, so a 3rd rounder won't help us accomplish that task.

isn't that only if he had played in the KHL past the end of the lockout?

I would be interested in Boyle but I do not think he and Hamerlik bring enough to make up for the loss of Penner and Nolan.

Someone else said Pneer for Hamerlik and a 3rd...I would consider that. However warnign that Penner and torts would not coexist.

I agree sort of.

In discussing value 3 3rds and a 5th is fair value. Hamer and 2 3rds is fair value and would help us in a perfect world too.

As for making the deal in the real world I agree that we wouldn't likely do it but as far as value goes I dont see the proposal as terrible and think my amended version is workable. Nolan is solid but we are loaded with bottom 6 players on the farm. I wouldn't want to deal JN at all but if a team offered us 3 3rd round picks for him you have to look at it.

I'm not sure the reigning Stanley Cup team wants to be the farm team for Rangers.

Well, value-wise, sure it's worth it, but I'm not interested in stockpiling picks at the deadline. If we were out of it, by all means, trade away.

I think the value is slightly off, but I feel like there could be something there regarding the core of this deal. Needs some tinkering. As someone who follows both teams a lot, LA does need a veteran defender and Hamrlik would look decent next to someone like Voynov or Muzzin, who can both move the puck somewhat well.

I don't think the Rangers need Penner. We have enough big guys who skate slowly.

Aaaaand he just compared Roman Hamrlik to Willie Mitchell and Matt Greene. Lock it up.

Meh, I wouldn't at this point. The playoffs can be a long marathon. Penner is a big body that seems to play his best in the post season. I'm comfortable keeping him. He has a lot of experience in big games and plays a heavy "playoff type" game when he is playing at his best.
