I feel the same way. I would not sign any of them at that price but if I really had to likely would be Dumont or Carter as second choice.

I chose Bondra dispite his age and the ove payment that $2.5M would be. He's good offensivly and definsivly and could put on some points while playing on the 3rd line.

I don't see room fo Sykora in the top six, nor Dumont and I don't like Carter's attitude.

Edit: On medication... typing skills... poor!

he's talking about Jeff Carter

to the question: Dumont all the way, he can still be a better player then he is right now, defensively alot more reliable then the other 3, plus he's from Montreal

Higgins-Koivu-Dumont seems alot more exciting then Higgins-Koivu Ryder imo, Dumont can pass better and handel the puck in traffic alot better too, he doesn't do garbage goals, I'd trade Ryder for a 2nd center instead

Bondra is done and Sykora is a soft floater.

I think Dumont might have the most upside judging by how he played last season and how he played a committed game in the playoffs.

But Anson Carter is the safe pick. You know what you're going to get.

I would go with Dumont though.

Dumont should come cheaper than 2,5. We was earning 1,6M$ in 05-06...Ryder got 2,2 for 30 goals; I see him coming for 2M$ (if he really wants to join the club). At that price, the cap wouldn't be hurt..... the only problem is the jam it will create: everyting would then be open for a trade were we give 4 quaters for a dollard.

Sykora, at least he scored more than 80 pts once and he's still relatively young.

But honestly, none of the above.

In order?

Sykora
Carter
Dumont
Bondra

Sykora has good hands and great speed, while Carter has a decent scoring touch with grit. Dumont is okay, but definately not a priority. Bondra? Too old.

haha. people vote for dumont because he's french. the guy is an awful player on defense and he's soft as butter.

Carter would be a better choice.

WHAT EXACTLY CONSTITUTES A GARBAGE GOAL ? I ALWAYS THOUGHT A GOAL WAS A GOAL NO MATTER HOW IT WAS SCORED , YOU MAKE IT SOUND DIRTY SOMEHOW . I DON'T CARE HOW A PLAYER SCORES A GOAL I WILL CHEER FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE .

A garbage goal is the goal you get from paying the price infront of the net. Its not a bad thing, its a very good thing.

A garbage goal is banging in a rebound, tiping in a point shot, converting a pass at the top of the crease or the slot. any of those would be garbage goals.

Arguably The best ever at doing this was Phil Esposito, but Montreal had a good one in Steve Shutt too. Dino Ciccarelli is another guy who comes to mind who got a lot of garbage goals.

In my opinion, none of the guys on your list score a lot of garbage goals, none seem like the guy who takes the physical pounding in front of the net.

I guess if cap space wasn't as issue, and I was strictly ranking the players I would go....

1. Dumont - Dumont and Carter would be 1 and 1a with Dumont getting the nod simply because he WANTS to play in Montreal.
2. Carter
3. Sykora
4. Bondra
