St. Louis Blues - Florida Panthers

The St. Louis Blues and Florida Panthers have agreed to a trade which will send defenseman Brian Campbell and center Shawn Matthias to St. Louis in exchange for veteran C/LW Andy McDonald, prospect defenseman Ian Cole, and St. Louis' 1st round draft pick in 2013.

The key to the deal for St. Louis is not just Campbell being the left handed, top pairing defenseman they had been seeking, but the fact that the Florida Panthers will be paying 50% of the remaining value of his contract. Campbell, who makes $7.143MM per season, will collect half of that from Florida, and the remaining half from his new club, the St. Louis Blues.

Veteran forward Andy McDonald was set to become an unresticted free agent at the end of the year, and didn't seem to be a fixture in St. Louis' plans moving forward.

Brian Campbell
Shawn Matthias

Andy McDonald
Ian Cole
STL 2013 1st Rd Pick

Management was unavailable for comment, as the Blues are said to be working on other trade opportunities, and hope to acquire a few more pieces to aid them in their quest for a Stanley Cup.

Mueller is a former high pick, 6.2 205 and is almost even with hemsky is goals scored this year. 24 years old to hemsky 29 and is 3.25mill cheaper

Jones is UFA after this year, while Upshall is signed for a few more

while Upshall was hampered by injuries the last two years, he likes to hit and can actually play. as apposed to Ben Eager who is still burried in the farm--but can be recalled if I need

I don't like this one for Edmonton but I can live with it a bit. I really didn't like the Yakupov/Jackets trade though. As a Canucks GM..

Oilers needed to address the D position and I believe I have answered both the short term and long term aspects and I am looking at the draft and thinking with the Oiler pick and the Ranger pick I will address the C and winger position

D for 2013/2014
J Schultz-Murray(healthy)
Klefbom-N.Schultz
Smid(resigned) -Erixon
with Teubert and Fistric resigned at 7 with Marnicin racking up flyer points from where ever the Oilers farm team will be

I'm assuming there will be waivers to this so CGY would like to place Blake Comeau and Brian McGratton on waivers.

if we are doing waivers Panthers are first in priority and claim Blake Comeau.

If not Calgary I guess we will talk later...

Pending league approval, Mike Cammalleri is going to NSH for Taylor Beck and Ryan Ellis. Pick might be involved from CGY.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Calgary not done. Hearing Chris Butler is heading to Vancouver. Andrew Alberts and a pick going back.

With the trade machine in full swing, Anaheim's Bobby Ryan looks like he is out of favour in Cali. #ByeByeBye

@DarrenDreger Canucks looking to move Cory Schneider. Want a top 9 LW, a top 9 C, a backup goalie, among other things. A package doesn't have to include all of those things, to clarify.

@TSNBobMcKenzie Canucks haven't received much interest for Cory Schneider yet.

@Eklund: E5 I'm hearing rumours that Stamkos was dealt in a package for future considerations to Dynamo Moscow in order to get rid of Lecavalier's salary

Is there anychance we could normalize games played like i got knocked out of the playoffs last night and am in 9th but have the least games played in the eastern conference... Could we normalize it at like the standings after 33 games played? seems a tad unfair but if not ill be blowing it up.

I think the only fair way is to prorate the pt/gm over the remaining games?

That, or we could vote on playoff teams because the changes people are making influence their team. I don't think it makes sense that playoffs are set before the trade deadline.

in my experience voting is a pain in the A and is biased where buddys vote for each other. im down for what ever, either way integrity is going to be lost.

I agree that it is hard to pin down a perfect option but if we are gonna go by standings there has to be at least = games played. That just makes sense since its such a close race this year.

That's why I was looking for input on the way we did it before we started. If everyone is ok with one of the other methods, I'm fine with changing
