No reason to believe he couldn't be our 7th dman to start the year (assuming Bouillon is still injured). Guess training camp will decide whether he or Cote is further along.

I shed a tear in passing for poor Cornell, though. Yikes. They've lost McKee, Pokulok, and O'Byrne now. Plus the graduates Moulson, Pegararo, the Abbotts, Gleed, Chabot... for their sake I hope they have some good recruits coming. I drafted Romano in my FHL... is anybody else coming for them? Especially in goal and on D?

I was thinking the same, though I assume Streit/Cote will still be our 6th/7th while Bouillon is out.

Awesome News....(just to have something better than great.... )

No extra pressure on the rookies, but I believe Hamilton will be a very good team. Maybe not contender, but playoffs team nonetheless.

Cornell has 2 freshman coming in on defense from the BCHL, I beleive one of them was drafted by the Canes in June. Either way it's a huge blow to lose O'Byrne who was slated to wear the A and would have played 30 minutes a night. Losing Moulson and O'Byrne is hard since they are the top 2 players on last years team imo.

Great news as a Dogs fan though, can't wait to see him in action this year along with Chipchura, Grabovsky and D'Agostini.

With no transfer agreement in place, I definitely don't like the odds of Emelin coming over. But O'Byrne being signed is great news. Hamilton will be very fun to follow this year.

no none but a guess would be he'll stay in Russia, who can say though since the Malkin saga has gone every which way. He's coming to the NHL, he's not coming, he's flying to Mars, he's not flying to Mars. I didn't think O'Byrne would leave Cornell, but I'm glad he did, although as a Cornell fan it really hurts them but I've also become a Dartmouth and Clarkson fan, so it helps them.

Do you think Emelin will come next year, in 2007, or one day?

Impossible to say at this point, who can guess what the heck will happen with Russia and the PTA. I would think that if Malkin were to leave the RSL this year, then perhaps the Russian Federation would be inclined to sign the PTA next year since losing Malkin for nothing would be a huge blow. But since the rumor is that Malkin redid his contract from a 2 year to a 1 year, I at least have to wonder if this is a sign that the RHF will indeed sign the PTA next year, but then again maybe not because if they still feel it's not a fair deal, and the NHL sticks to it's guns by not signing a seperate PTA just for Russia (which I doubt would happen cause I got to think the other countries would not be happy and would want more money)

Emelin's got a 2 year deal, and we don't have to sign him for 2 years, so perhaps we don't see him next year either. Personally I just hope he comes over at some point, so if it's 2 years from now then so be it. I know if I were Gainey I would think long and hard about drafting Russian players in '07 since it's an additional risk.

Glad to see Ryan has signed and I'm looking forward to seeing him in Hamilton next year, especially since I haven't seen him before.

With Kostitsyn, Grabovsky, Chipchura, Aubin, D'Agostini and O'Byrne all in Hamilton next year, it should be awesome!

I think a lot of people will enjoy watching Hamilton this year with Grabovsky and O'Byrne as two of our top prospects that likely many haven't seen a whole lot of. I really can not wait to see 3 of our top 10 prospects in Chip, Grabo and OB as rookies! Or in the words of Duffman, "Oh Yea!!" (thrusts to the left)

Imagine next year with Price, S.Kostitsyn, Latendresse, Carle, Mikus, may be Wyman and Emelin... and all the players named above with one year of experience...
