Can anyone give me a rundown on Grant Besse?

Also the Leafs drafted Dominic Toninato and I would love to get a rundown on him... Are his stats impressive? What kind of player is he... etc.

I figured Kitchener could pay since they're not doing anything illegal, as in merely paying to free a player from the final year of his contract, but you obviously know better than me. Thanks for the heads-up, and, yeah, I'm sure Big All has enough scratch =).

Besse has a great shot and good hands and speed but kinda has a temper and does really stupid crap when he gets frustrated. Could be a great player if he gets his attitude under control.

Dominic Toninato plays like a Jonathan Toews. Solid defensively and can chip in offensively. He certainly has pro upside and if he can polish his game at Duluth he could turn into a decent player.

Andrew Weiss of Future Considerations is at the camp and has been posting thoughts on his Twitter (he's also a poster here):

@WeissFC: Red wins 8-4. Standouts include Dennis Yan, Charlie Kelleher, Noah Hanifin, Casey Fitzgerald, Caleb Jones, Zach Werenski, and Jeremy Bracco

That's from a scrimmage that just ended.

It appears as if both Luke Kirwan and Colin White are not playing at the NTDP camp due to injury; however, both are still in attendance.

On another note, as of now, it looks like Hunter Miska, Trevor Hamilton, and Kevin Labanc are the the NTDP U18ers that have been moved down to the U17 squad and thus are not likely to play in the IIHF U18 Championship with U17ers Jack Eichel, Ryan MacInnish, and Blake Weyrick still up with the U18 team to finish their season (along with new defenseman Tommy Vanelli since the MNHS season ended).

Not doubting that Al can afford to pay it, just surprised by the move. How many times in recent history has a player left after just 1 year? Why didn't McInnis play in the USHL if this was the plan?

Emerson Etem is the last prominent one I remember where it wasn't a mutual parting of ways after one season. Ryan's reason for NTDP over another USHL club? A guess but the NTDP is a powerful draw and he's getting to play on a team of his peers for his country instead of being the youngest kid on a random USHL team. And if he were to leave, I bet Kitchener covers the exit fee in some fashion.

Seems like names are starting to leak for next year's U17 NTDP squad (camp finished yesterday). Christian Evers, an Omaha AAA d-man, received an offer and committed.

Quite a few other names were rumored to have already committed pre-camp as well.

Has anyone viewed UNH this season? Wondering about 6'6" Eric Knodel, and whether or not he projects to be a capable defender at the next level.

Looks like all those former Blues that stayed in STL after their careers ended over the last 20 years is starting to pay big dividends. Four of the 9 commits are from MO.

Lots can change with U17 players but at this point the upcoming NTDP U17 squad is absolutely LOADED.

I was adding them as you replied. Team is near full but it's stacked with lots of good players still on the outside looking in.

I would venture to say one of the best in recent years.

Also I would forsee those who did not make it look to sign USHL tenders in the next week to 10 days.

I agree. The defense has the potential be up there with the '94 group and there's a ton of potential on offense for a dynamic group, something the NTDP hasn't had in awhile up front.

There looks to be only 1 forward spot left as far as I can tell. Now it's certainly possibly there's some misinformation out there or some players back out after the OHL draft but USAH seems to know how deep the '97 group is and wants to have this team selected and signed as soon as possible.

Also interesting...no Minnesotans on the roster that's almost complete. Surprising even though it's not a strong year for Minnesota despite the birth year being great for USAH.

Give me Thomas Novack as the last F and Seagraves as the last G and I will take my chances.

They only take two goalies and already have commits in Opilka and Lackey.

The team is complete. Missing Auston Matthews from the Arizona Bobcats and goaltender Michael Lackey from Exeter.

Thank you. Had Lackey but Matthews was the missing player.

Not really. Cam Askew and Troy Henley are both hyped prospects but Askew already tendered with the Indiana Ice and Henley is 100% going OHL so neither was in play (coincidentally, the player that replaced Henley at the camp made the team in McAvoy).

Some very good players didn't make it (Jackson, Green, Price, etc.) but that's a testament to how strong the '97 class is for USAH and not really an indictment of their talent (plus, USAH chooses role players as well so it's not all scorers so-to-speak).
