Andrei Markov

If someone knees the Russian phenom and he had to retire. Does this mean his salary is off the books?

I believe his cap will count against the team since he is under 35

umm you actually have it completely wrong

IF he signs a 35+ contract it counts
since he signed a contract before 35, it comes off the books

Pretty sure it was the other way around. Players 35+ who are signed to contracts will have the remaining salary count against the cap if they retire. I feel like this was discussed when Philly signed Pronger, if he were to retire before his contract was up, Philly would still have him on the books.

According to some guys around here... Markov is 45... so the 35+ rule applies to him...

He's almost as old as Grigorenko.

If someone knees the Russian phenom and is injured/can't play because of it, then he is on IR until the end of his contract and his cap hit is off the book.

If he can still play but decides not to, then we consider his cap hit. But if he decides not to, it's because he's not 100%, and should be considered on the IR. Since the insurance probably don't cover his knee, I don't see any insurance company coming to poke questions about that.

He was under 35 when he signed his contract. If, for any reason, he retires, his contract does not count against the cap.

After next season, if Beaulieu isn't ready, I'd be content to bring Andrei back on a year to year basis.

Not sure if sarcastic? I answered his question (should have pointed out it applies to players signed before 35 but I'm sure 12 others have said it).

If anyone is negative its him for even bringing that question up. Markov seems to have recovered very well and his previous injuries were mostly fluke. Can we consider a minute that he might not get a major injury again?

Some peoples seems to want him to get hurt, because then they would be right about him being finished...

I was thinking the same thing, kind of tempting fate. The general is having a great season and is back in form so why even ask a question like this?

This thread definitely needs to be closed, a simple google search should give you the answer you're looking for.

Well, if I follow the pattern that guy used on this thread, he would Google "Andrei Markov Russian phenom, knee injury, salary cap", not sure he'd find anything relevant
