We can talk about Bryz but just getting rid of Bryz doesn't solve the problem. Our defense is brutal. The only defenseman with an ounce of hockey sense is Kimmo. That's why we can't sustain a forecheck. Stretch teams d zone coverage high to low(lack of PMDs kill us), and get the damn puck out the zone. Add to the terrible 5 on 5 play because of a system that doesn't mesh well with this roster.
Mez is a shell of his former self. He can't even stay healthy and he's not getting younger. He plays shelters minutes and still blows. He loses too many battles down low. His hockey sense in the offensive zone is low as well. Thats why he cant QB a powerplay. Also because he lacks poise. Foster is just an abomination. That's all that needs to be said. Gervais is what he is. A 6th or 7th defenseman that is playing to many minutes now. Another dman with no offensive hockey sense and his shot is pathetic. Luke Schenn is a physical defensive dman. He is fine in he role. You win with him and guys like Grossman. The problem is we don't have offensively skilled d-man that can complement them and control the tempo.
Now that lead me to Coburn. It is time for the front office to unload this guy. He logs ass these minutes yet he isn't even an all around defenseman. He's hardly a top shutdown guy either. What is he? What defines him? All he has is smooth skating and good size. He has the hockey sense of an ahler at times. He turns the puck over too much or he just simply loses a battle or takes himself out of position. It's time to cut ties with his inconsistency. He provides nothing in the offensive zone. Homer has built such a poor lineup in terms of the defense. There is no depth. It's laughable when guys like Lilja, Gervais, and Foster are the next men up.
