The hyperbole and total lack of effort to even evaluate this guy fairly by the usual suspects us getting tiresome.

As if no goalie has ever performed well behind a bad defensive team

This whole thread tbh is tiresome. Whether or not it's the defense's fault, Bryz doesn't seem to be the guy that can backstop this team to success.

Example: Dubnyk is utterly blasting Bryz's stats on an awful defensive team.

Yup...

So is bryz supposed to be one of the worst starters in the NHL then? Is that what that contract was for?

here the real issue. 5 pts behind NYR .... home game vs NYR, and THIS is the result:

Sam Carchidi ‏@BroadStBull
#Flyers somehow played flat and fell to Rangers, 5-2.

you wanna blame that on the goalie go ahead. he did not come out flat and get outworked & out hustled, the rest of the team did.

at this point, i'd be very happy if they just brought in another scapegoat for you guys to dump on, as if the goalie is the reason they came out flat YET AGAIN & got outworked.

That's neat and all, but Bryz was underwhelming as well. The team sucked, and so did Bryz.

He's certainly not the best. I never considered Bryz a top 5-8 goalie in the league, let alone the best. The contract is bad. I am agreeing with you.

I love Bryz I'll be honest he can give us a Gem on occasion. He's quite the character my Aunt was at the Carnival of wives and asked to put his arm around him immediately after a chick sat on his lap. He asked his wife if it was ok. The guy is a riot to listen to and has shown in the right system he can be awesome.

With that said I just don't think he's meshing here like he did on the Ducks and Coyotes. It's much easier to change a goalie than a whole defensive scheme so I could see Bryz being left go, and potentially going somewhere that could play to his strengths and do quite well.

He isn't a bad goalie, but he isn't the goalie that this team needs, obviously. I like Bryz as a goalie on a team set up differently than ours. Until some things change and the team plays a better style to close up a lot of these chances, he won't fit.

Team sucked so bryz had a built in excuse. Must be nice.

Guess what, both can and do suck. The faster you realize bryz is a massive failure the quicker this travesty of a thread can move on.

People are ******** on him way too much on here but I also don't think Bryz fits in with this team. He's better suited playing somewhere that mirrors Phoenix. I would bet that he succeeds on whatever team he plays on if the Flyers buy him out, maybe even a top 10 goalie.

i'd be fine with that. and let the guys here rip into another goalie. maybe then they'll realize that the issue is this teams frequent lack of hustle / desperation, poor coverage & turnovers ..... ALL of which were evident vs NYR.

[despite bad goal #4]

thats what most of us have been saying from the get go..

its not a personal vendetta, we just simply see Bryz is NOT the right guy for here..

That's the point. The cap hit isn't massive, but the fact is that statistically speaking, you could get very similar production from a much cheaper goalie with less term. Then, with that money, the Flyers can go and sign another terrible contract somewhere else (god i hope not)

That team would probably do a better job of scouting him than the Flyers did.

I was definitely mistaken to just disregard all the warnings from Phoenix fans and assume he'd be a rock for a few seasons.

A few of their fans flat out told us Bryz's success was probably built on Phoenix's system. They pegged him as a size/positioning guy who relied on the team in front of him, and predicted he wouldn't do well on a team like Philly. I assumed they were just being negative and trying to bring him down after he left their team.

I can see that and I agree to an extent from what I've seen. When he gets hot, he looks amazing, but the Flyers don't want a guy who is only positionally sound.
