That rule does not apply to Toffoli. His contract started running at the beginning of the season in Manchester.

I agree. I guess me and you are in the minority though.

That said, I would prefer to see both Toffoli and Penner in the lineup.

Nolan actually had a pretty good game, but he SHOULD be the odd man out to make that work. I really liked what I saw when Toffoli was on the 2nd line and Penner was floating from line to line, wherever he was needed.

I don't totally agree with this...and I'm a fan of Penner. The problem is he just doesn't bring ENOUGH...and during the regular season of last year, he was basically a waste of a roster spot. His real value was achieved during the playoffs.

I said it much earlier in the season....they should just scratch the dude permanently until the playoffs start.

Why can't Fraser sit out a game? Can't understand why it has to be Penner or Toffoli???

The only reason I would guess that sure it would cause some changes and that Sutter has a man crush for Fraser. It'd make our 3 lines more lethal if Penner plays He does what he's supposed to but any one else can do what he does as a 4th C, if not better ie Nolan. At the end of the day it comes down to Penner vs Fraser. Positioning doesn't matter cause we have loads of centers playing wing.

Fraser is perfect in his role as a 4th line center. And if the Kings sit Fraser it means Lewis has to move to 4C, and right now the 3rd line is playing really well.

Ughhh no people have short memories don't they ?

The Fourth line sucked all last season till Fraser came in and stabilized it. Then Nolan was added to it.

Sutter doesn't want to mess with the Third line.

If anyone could do what Fraser does, the Kings would have found that anyone last year....They did it was Fraser.

Cause not just anyone can do it.

Nolan hasn't played Center since JR hockey. It would take time for him to adjust.

Which would piss all of you off..

And I can argue that Penner's been very good playing 2LW. In fact, Carter and Richards TOI is higher with Penner than they are with Toffoli. I'd like to see how we look with both Penner and Toffoli in the lineup. I don't think that's too unreasonable.

The top 6 is most important than the fourth line to me. Doesn't matter to me. We should mix it because the fourth line doesn't do much but cycle, I don't think taking Fraser out would do anything.

At least you have a reason....

Didn't Sutter move Clifford to Richards line ? may see how that goes next game.

Toffoli looked more comfortable on that Fourth line (less pressure?)

Look Im not saying Fraser has been bad at all, but to me its simple Penner> Fraser

I think that someone can rotate to center, and everyone on the roster on forward is just simply better than him, so I just think its a simple replacement, your worst player out for your Marginal 2nd/3rd liner. I just think he is expendable and I am comfortable with our other forwards taking his spot.

To me our line up Looks more lethal with Penner than Fraser.

Nothing on Fraser, just expendable IMO.

Don't agree.

But I see the point you are trying to make. I want to see Clifford get more time with Richards/Carter.

Clifford has a future with the Kings, Penner doesn't

I agree with that, I just think penner is an upgrade over Fraser, but yes I am hopeful this is his last season, Clifford is really good and Im glad.

Toffoli should be on a line with great forecheckers line 1,3/4, because Carter/Richards dont really forecheck at times and Toffoli doesnt really at all, and a 1,3/4 line does which is better for him to get set up IMO.

Edit: toffoli on a line with carter and Richards means no cycling/forecheck. I think he'd thrive with Kopi especially but forechecking is needed on a line with toffoli so he can have more chances to score.

I agree with that 100%.

Toffoli needs to be that rover type guy, that gets to the circles(shoots).

He needs solid fore-checkers to be effective. Pearson is relentless in Manchester, him and Toffoli looked really good, with Vey handling the 200ft game.

I'd love to see him with Kopi and Brown, I'd think he'd shine very well but if no first line 3/4 would be ideal and he'd be rovering while the other two forecheck.

I agree. Especially when Stoll stops playing so well. Then move him to the fourth line, Richards to the third and Toffoli can be the smallest guy on the second line, with Carter centering and Penner/Clifford/Brown as LW to chase and cycle.

For the first time in five years as a King, Stoll is playing well and looks comfortable. There is no need to mess with the 3rd line right now, it has been better than Random/Richards/Carter for about the past 6-8 games.

I think King should be the odd man odd. He doesn't do much out there.

I was thinking that earlier in the season, but King is too valuable in the playoffs. Plus he's playing great on a line with Stoll and Lewis. I also love having a 4th line of Clifford/Fraser/Nolan.

Penner is kind of the odd man out. It's going to be a tough decision to sit Toffoli when he's clearly able to make an impact on the game. I think actually having Toffoli on a line with Penner would be interesting. When Penner is throwing his body around and making great passes (which he is very capable of), Toffoli can bury them.

I don't think having Carter and Toffoli on the same line make sense. They are both snipers. You need a physical guy, playmaker and a scorer on a line. This is the recipe for success. You can interchange certain aspects of it, but you definitely need to spread out your snipers. We thought that Gagne was going to be that guy, but Toffoli is clearly able to fill that role.

I think if we can get Greene and/or Mitchell back by playoffs and Quick gets sharp, it's going to be very difficult to play this team.

He's been better than we expected. he has 2g 1a in 4 games. Both his goals have been goal scorers goals too.

I have big expectations for this kid

I must admit Toffoli skating looked alot better last game. Not sure if it was the better ice but he didn't seem to be swimming in sand like the first 2 games.

I think many could make the argument that he turned that Chicago game around. He made several great defensive plays, including great backchecking..and then there's that amazing snapshot that only a handful of guys in the league can do from that distance (even though Crawford didn't see it).

I'm gonna say something that might be unpopular here.

Brown slides down to kings spot. Toffoli up to the 1st and penner on the second.

The 2nd line was money in the playoffs and if toffoli keeps up his play he deserves a spot on the first.
