110% does it again...

Subject was: Myths around russian players.

Man, if 1/100th of what was said tonight about russians was said about Québecois in english Canada.. there would be a civil war in Canada. Stuff like; Ovechkin has all of a North American, I'm sure that in couple of years he'll have blond hairstyles and will leave all of his russian side in the past

How dumb can a person be to say stuff like that???? Comments that make russians look like a retarded people that don't know what shampoo and soap is... anyone could tell them that Russia has one of the highest % of U graduates and the highest % of alphabetism in the world...

shakehead

Well let's talk about the Lord Durham Report that said Quebecers had no worth unless they were assimilated.

Some Europeans have it easier getting used to the life on this continent than other do.

"Kovalioff" would be the proper Russian pronounciation. However, Kovalev prefers to be called "Koh-vah-lev"

While I can't confirm or deny the Kovy pronunciation, Ovetchkin's name is actually pronounced "Avietchkin," or something closely approximating that. I've seen footage of he himself pronouncing it as such.

and yo know what ?
this report saved the french-canadian and helped them to create their own culture IMO and Durham was right at that time quebecers had no culture and no future (money).
Durham is probably one of the most hated guy for quebecers but he made us realise that we could change and for that I respect him.
btw i'm a quebecois myself.

Why the hell do you ahve to bring out that lord durham crap? People say that kind of crap about us so it makes it ok for us to use the same kind of ignorance in our comments towards other cultures?

They call the russians soft. They should read a bit about the battle of stalingrad.

Most of the "O"s are pronounced as "A" in russian. The first exemple given to anyone want's to learn russian is: Moloko (Milk) pronounced M A L A K O.. So yes: Avietchkin, Kavalyovf, Magil'nyi (Mogilny)...

Some comments were stupid, but in general that was not THAT bad.

I even find that bergeron was very moderate and he didn't really bash the russians.

Imagine anyone on TSN/CBC/Sportsnet say; If Tremblay can't learn english he can go back in Québec (Siberia) and eat Poutine... what kind of reaction would you have?

well Bergeron said in a previous show; Markov, he can't order a hamburger in english, well he can go back Siberia and eat goulash. (Btw Goulash is a Hungarian soup, nothing to do with russian culture) ... it's like saying "the black guy should go back to africa and eat bananas", how can this be broadcasted at all?

I actually liked the show, I really like what Michel Bordeleau had to say, Bergeron and Bureau couldn't say a damn word after all the things he explained.

Congrats to those of you who don't watch these clowns.

Those of you who still watch and then come here to complain about it are idiots.

Yep. It was a bad debate tonight.

Yet you still watch it. And you guys talk about it. And you are the same guys who always complain about the show.

And the first thing you do is bring french/english analogy into the discussion. I mean come on... You know how it always turns out. We've been over this 1000000 times already.

Its like a bad groundhog day... Are you masochistic? Do you routinely watch what you consider bad TV shows to talk about them the morning after with your friends?

I simply don't understand.

They talked about the russians to debunk or confirm the myths that we heard about them all the time. That why they invited a specialist who worked in Russia for many years.

I watched it tonight, and after 10 minutes into the first segment, I turned it off. Quite frankly, if you don't agree with it, don't give these guys the time of day. They'll get the message that their views aren't consistent with the Canadiens' fans, and that they should find another medium through which to vent.
