anyone find it odd that hartnell and not the captain giroux presented timonen with the Rolex watch on behalf of the team?? I know about the predators connection but it struck me as odd that the captain wouldn't present an honor like that to timonen on behalf of his players. maybe bad blood?

no, not at all

Hartnell and Timonen are best friends and have been since their Nashville days

Bad blood between Giroux and Timonen seems unlikely.

Seravalli just tweeted that the Flyers were scouting Brent Burns?

We'd have to pay quite a bit for him, but I'd love to have Burns.

I just noticed though, why has he only had 17 mins per game on average this season?

I am not sure what part of that is suppose to be sarcasm so my bad if you agree with these facts or not. Statistically you have a better chance of finding a great defensemen after round 1 than you do a great forward.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats.h...=nav-sts-indiv

Out of the top 30 scoring forwards on 9 were taken after Rd 1. Of those 21 first round picks, 16 were taken in the top 10.

Out of the top 30 scoring defensemen, 19 were taken after the 1st round. Of those 11 first round picks, 6 were take in the top 10.

Whether are not the Flyers can evaluate defensemen well enough to find them after round 1 is a completely different argument.

I think he's been underperforming when he hasn't been hurt, which has been a great portion of the year. They moved him to forward!

Seravelli is an idiot without sources. I trust Eklund more.

I don't get the Eklund hate. The guy obviously has some connections with the Flyers. He has been right a decent amount.

Was speaking more to Seravelli. If you happen to read the article associated with his tweet (don't bother ), there wasn't a single quote, fact, or source saying the Flyers were watching Brett Burns. It was his own opinion passed along as some inside info. Just like his Briere article with one generic quote saying how much he likes the area to being sold as an exclusive interview where Briere states that he won't waive his no movement clause. At least Eklund doesn't sell himself as a journalist, who should actual be bound to you know journalistic standards.

Oh I know, my apologies I wasn't calling you out for Eklund bashing. If you read the trade rumor thread, any time someone posts an Eklund rumor the thread is either dismissed or closed as being BS. I don't understand why.

Zero chance we trade what currently is a top 3 pick in this draft.

In the offseason, I'd probably do our 2014 first.

When is the draft order determined? April 29? I'm excited for that day.

Hopefully Homer is working the phone today on Feds and Gagne. Makes no sense on keeping them now. Gagne can be resigned in the summer if needed. They are rentals and keeping them is the equivalent of throwing away draft picks.

No because Hartnell and Timonen have been teammates since Nashville. As long as Hartnell has been in the NHL, hes had Timonen as a teammate... Reading waaaaaaaaay too much into that.... I hate this town

I hope he's taking calls on the entire roster. This is a sellers market and while there are certainly pieces I don't care to move, you have got to see if there is a team desperate enough.

For example, if a team like Columbus decides that they need to make the playoffs and they offer 2 1sts for Hartnell, you have to listen imo.

Absolutely. No one is untradeable if the price is right.

I think that is the date of the lottery odds. The actual lottery is drawn on sometime be fore the 30th of June IIRC.

Would be a big fan of bringing in Brent Burns and pairing him with Grossman or Schenn.

hey guys..Blues fan here....with my team struggling, there has been a lot of talk about a shake up, and I have always been a Wayne Simmonds fan. I know for the right deal, anyone is tradeable. From your perspective, what would you want from us in a deal for him? Been a lot of talk (non-validated speculation) about Perron being on the block.

Only thing I would consider trading Simmonds for would be a package involving Shattenkirk or Pietrangelo...even then Im not sure I would, I honestly think Simmonds with a little bit more scoring could be a great captain/assistant captain.

It begins.

I'm gonna go hide in a hole now. This team just shouldn't have captains. The media and fanbase aren't capable of dealing with it.
