My biggest regret since moving out of the South Shore is having to be out of range for their delivery service. The main reason I visit my folks every week on the Shore is to see that beautiful red Benny car bring me their delicious chicken poutine...it is truly the food of the gods.

Seriously, it's a shame you have to get on the shores to be able to order Benny. The sauce is way better and thickier than the St-Hubert one, and they're quite generous with the cheese.

They should make a chicken-skin poutine. That would be awesome.

Am I the only one that would take a La Belle Province (style) fry with salt and vinegar over a poutine most of the time? Eating poutine is the equivalent of eating deep fried chicken. It's something you do once in awhile and more often regret.

On the topic of vinegar, I only add it when I have those greasy spoon type fries like at La Belle Province type joints... I see vinegar packs at McD's and can't see how that would taste good.

Can't stand the fries from la Belle Pro. My favorite are from KFC which I haven't had in like 2 years

When they can't even say the name properly (pou-teen? *shudder*), what hope do they have for the actual recipe?

Underrated. It's the light chicken gravy that does it.

Moving away from the Montreal area where I grew up (Ontario, but near the Quebec boarder) to southwestern Ontario where I now live with my wife, you guys wouldn't believe the looks I would get when I'd ask for poutine (proper way of saying it, with french accent) in restaurants or fast food joints. They would look at me like I was crazy, and had no idea what I had meant. Then, my wife would have to tell them "he means poo-teen". That was like 5 years ago.

To this day, I still refuse to ask for "poo-teen".

Poutine is supposed to be heavy; it was designed to get you through the long Quebec winter. This is decidedly NOT an amuse bouche. Not a snack. Not a tasting portion. Poutine is a star.

Haha estiii

If you're not eating Decarie Hot Dog's poutine you're doing it wrong.

How is the poutine at Costco brahs?

I've had it a few times and although I like it, I prefer Paulo & Suzanne's.

HAte that so much. Most of my friends say it like that (they're from Nova Scotia or PEI as opposed to New Brunswick) and it makes me cringe.

Dude, try to find "Au Coq" restaurant, 3 of them split the Montreal island: Rosemont, Verdun and Laval. It's practically the same chicken and sauce. I practically order from either Benny or Au Coq interchangeably, and they never seem to cross territories - they probably have a non-competitive agreement.
