like I said in another thread, if Bryz was a legit starting goalie, regardless of how bad the team in front is, he would still be putting up decent numbers. Compare his SA% (.898) to these goalies who are all on non-playoffs teams:

-Holtby (.916 SA%)
-Miller (.911 SA%)
-Markstrom (.921 SA%)
-Rinne (.911 SA%)
-Lehtonen (.919 SA%)
-Bobrovsky (.930 SA%)
-Dubnyk (.917 SA%)
-Khabibulin (.941 SA%)

Who should we get to replace Bryz? Does it really matter? You could pay someone the league minimum to give us what Bryz does for $5.5m

Personally, I'd go after Bishop in OTT. Hell, I'd rather sign Eriksson from the SEL and run with him than be stuck with Bryz for the next 6 years

We're not stuck with anything. We can buy him out after next year. But we can wait and see if under a system that promotes better team defense he improves.

No thanks. Bryz needs to be sent packing THIS YEAR. Cannot go into another year w/ that bum starting.

its not simple enough to not blame one guy. its got to be one guys fault. btw did giroux not get interviewed last night? i feel like timonen has to deal with the fallout of most of this

Not sold on Mike Green at all. He hasn't been able to stay healthy a full season and his production has gone down drastically since that one season he scored 30 goals.

Hopefully Holmgren sits patiently and doesn't do anything stupid. There's no need to deal any of the Flyers own first round picks and there's no need to deal anyone with the last name Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier, Grossmann and Rinaldo. Everyone else should be on the table.

If Holmgren decides to go after a defenseman, his best bet is to wait until the off season. Right now, everyone is going to know that he's desperate for a defenseman and they're going to squeeze him for everything he has. He waits until the off season, that desperation isn't there. As well, he might have multiple first round picks to play with. With the cap coming down, those draft picks are going to be like gold to most GMs (especially to those GMs who are having cap space issues) and you can bet that Holmgren will get several calls about possibly giving up one of those picks for a viable defenseman worthy of a first. This is the time to sit tight, clear out salary and prepare for the off season rebuild.

better team defense? you mean like the one he played in in Phoenix? How did their system with Bryzgalov in net work out for them in the playoffs?

I would hold onto him for one more season TBH. If we can bring someone in on a cheaper contract, like Bishop, and they over take him for the #1 spot, then you buy him out

but I wouldnt be totally against buying him out this summer

philadelphia daily news reporter frank seravelli reports that the philadelphia flyers brass was recently spotted in minnesota. Gm paul holmgren and director of hockey operations chris pryor were spotted in the land of 10,000 lakes scouting not only the ncaa but the wild’s recent game against the san jose sharks. The sharks have already moved douglas murray and rumors persist that dan boyle could be moved, but seravelli believes the object of the flyers affection is six-foot-five defender brent burns.

The real question is would Brusn wear 88 if he came here?

According to the Sharks Forum they would want a massive deal and significant overpayment. Essentially they would like to gut our entire team for him. 1st + Schenn + Simmonds + Giroux...i dunno something insanely ridiculous. However, it may be just as insanely ridiculous for us to inquire about him. Would be nice but based off the response from there fans and the sparse info/sources in Frank's article...doesn't seem likely.

Frank also said we should trade our 3rd rounder (which we can't trade) for Jagr. The guys an idiot. At least he's still not pushing the Stamkos rumors haha.

I like Burns. His cap hit is a bit much, but if the price isn't too high I would be interested. I don't think he is THE solution to the team's defense issues, but I think he would help. I would not want to part with Schenn or Couturier for him (or even Laughton).

Well, what I ment was if Jones is available at our pick, then choose him. Otherwise just pick the BPA.

I dunno what to do with the remaining picks if Flyers get to pick Jones. But if the 1st pick is a fwd, then rest of the picks should be used for defensemen.

Coyotes may be selling according to tsn rumours (on phone hard to copy and paste)

So I'd make a run at Gordon for a late round pick

Then go after burns from sjs or yandle is made available by the yotes. I wonder if either team is looking to unload cap space? We know our homer loves speading it.

In all honesty, I'd rather take a chance and go for Rundblad/Gormley over Yandle. Mainly because Yandle reminds me way more of a "bit better" version of Carle.

But yes, Gordon would be awesome.

Looks like the Flyers may have lost out on another superstar defensemen. Edmonton and Boston close to a deal which would send Ryan Whitney to Boston.

According to source w/knowledge of talks, call was made between BOS/PHI abt Briere. Caron & a pick mentioned, but was scuttled by concussion

My guess it was Caron and a 2nd. Now we get nothing for Briere because of his practice concussion. Seriously, who gets a concussion at practice...
