Depends on what we would be giving up, hopefully not much.

Would be welcomed on our already thin blue line though. Maybe going to a team that can actually play defense could help his game out if he is struggling this year.

Nothing from Dregs or Bobby Mac yet. Does Boston even need Whitney right now? PP help?

He's not even the worst defender on the Oilers unfortunately. Don't see Cam Barker or Vandermeer being any better then him either personally.

If true I wish him luck, Whitney was a good guy, injuries ruined him in the past two years but right after the trade Whitney was playing like a true top pairing defenseman for the Oil. He's still the only guy on the team who knows how to make a stretch pass.

I doubt Edmonton gets much for him... Would kinda suck to lose him for a late pick though.

I don't see why this would be so horrible for Boston. Whitney is still a very capable puckmover, 10 pts in 24 games and he would be sheltered in Boston plus they will probably have to give up very little. Don't really see the downside for them.

their power play is real bad, I mean REAL bad. He will be a PP specialist for a playoff run.

Price tag for Whitney likely to be similar to Douglas Murray (a couple of decent picks).

This, and he could be a good asset on the second PP wave. IF the price is low, I think this could be a good move by the bruins.

MacKenzie and Dreger don't often throw out trades until they have something really concrete to go on.

would Whitney,Hemsky and a 2013 2nd for Horton and a 2013 4th be around the right value? Cuz personally horton would be the guy i think the oilers would be looking at since they need a top 6 forward with size.

Regarding my Ryan Whitney tweet, as I said, I am hearing he may be traded to Boston but NOTHING CONFIRMED.
Sounds like he's backing off from it a little.

Interesting. What made you think that? His teammates seemed to love him and he always came off as a funny nice guy in the interviews I heard during his time with the Pens. The only negative was he was probably one of the softest D-Men the Pens have ever had. He had an unbelievably good stretch pass though.

I think people are overreacting a little here. He was terrible in January-February but has been steady ever since. His passing ability hasn't left him, but his legs maybe have. For a team with a supposedly bad PP Whitney would help Boston.

I just hope it's not for a 3rd round pick or anything less because I just don't think it would be worth dealing him for. If he's getting traded I'd expect something similar to Douglas Murray's trade. Although it's Tambo so you never know.
