Yeah, just a finalist (Eastern Conference Dman of the year). Will probably lose out to Kichton though for WHL dman of the year.

Maybe Rielly has an Alter Ego we can Keep On Lying about who won the WHL defenceman of the year, but maybe he won't win it cause It's Not Meant To Be.

Tyler Seguin is a perfect example. He simple had no more to learn. Keeping him the CHL wasn't going to help him. So the Bruins kept him up with the team.

Long story short, not every player should be kept on a deviating development model.
Exactly. If the Leafs can bring him up next year and give him sheltered minutes on the 3rd line (2nd if he takes it and run) with some decent PP time he'll develop just fine. Recently we've seen the Leafs make smart moves with development (Gardiner, Kadri). I'm not too worried about the decisions the Leafs make with Rielly, Im sure it'll be the right one.

Maybe I am just not reading it right but it clearly only has his name under WHL defencemen of the year, I don't see anyone else being mentioned.

Here's the link on WHL site. http://whl.ca/article/2013-whl-east-...ward-finalists

PHP Code:
WHL Defenceman of the YearBill Hunter Memorial Trophy
Eastern Conference
– Morgan Rielly (Vancouver, BC), Moose  Jaw Warriors
Even if he isn't, it doesn't matter a whole lot but it's nice to see him getting some recognition, even if he is only a finalist for it.

EDIT: just found out that it was only for the Eastern Conference, my apologies.

Thought the same thing first time I read it, but then I saw the title of the article was "Eastern Conference." It happens

Good luck to Rielly on the Marlies. Seems like a genuinely good kid and a pretty good player. I really hope his work ethic can match his talent. He's really the only one who can determine how far he can go.

Making his pro debut tonight. Playing on a pairing with Holzer, presumably the top pairing. Potential stream for 8 30 start - http://www.sportwebz.com/live/391422...ivo/gratis/tv/

The amount that Rielly is used with the Marlies for the rest of their season will say a lot about where he is in terms of his development.

Dallas Eakins has no problem playing teenagers, like he did with Stuart Percy last year, but under no circumstances is he going to play someone just because he's a top prospect for the big club. Rielly won't get one second of ice time that he hasn't earned, though it sounds like that won't be a problem for him.

^^
Dallas actually didnt want to play Percy until Management told him to give him a shot. So he played Percy in the last regular season game, and likes what he saw

Now that Morgan Rielly was named the WHL Eastern Conference Defensman of the year does that mean he might be more respect from other fan bases or be called the next top Defensman not playing in the NHL. The reason I say that is all the hype Dougie Hamilton got from the Bruins fans last year after he was named the CHL Defensman of the year and the top prospect not playing in the NHL or does Rielly also need to win that award to get that same type of talk?

First of all, there's about an ocean's difference between WHL East Defensemen of the Year and CHL Defenseman of the Year.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure Morgan Rielly gets an appropriate amount of respect from everybody.

Thirdly, not everything has to turn into War of the Fanbases. This thread is about Rielly, not "but but but Bruins fans!"

Let's just keep it copacetic.
