There seems to be a belief that Ryder is to be a RFA at season's end and not a UFA.
Explain to me how Ryder doesn't qualify as a UFA. Because he was born in the spring of 1980... same as Ribeiro, Gagne and Tanguay... all of whom were or are scheduled to become UFA at the end of this season, given that their contract expires this summer.

Because Ryder's rookie year was when he was 23, which was after those guys. It's by seasons played not age.

no it is by age OR by the number of seasons played.
the UFA age is 27 OR 7 accrued seasons. Ryder will be 27 (while having less than 7 accrued seasons) just like Ribeiro. Both are UFAs to be I believe.

sorry, I assumed accrued and played where the same thing
I believe it is because next year the UFA age is 28. The year after it is 27. From NHL.com:

How will Free Agency work?
Unrestricted Free Agency - For the 2005-06 season, a player age 31 with four accrued seasons will be an unrestricted free agent; in 2006-07, a player age 29 with four accrued seasons or with eight accrued seasons; in 2007-08, a player age 28 with four accrued seasons or with seven accrued seasons; beginning in 2008-09 and for the duration of the agreement, a player age 27 with four accrued seasons or with seven accrued seasons will be an unrestricted free agent. For purposes of qualifying for unrestricted free agency, the 2004-05 cancelled season will be counted as a year of accrued service.

then how come JP Dumont was a RFA this off season at age 28?

That's where I got the paragraph from, but it's actually just questions about the CBA. If you hate life, you can also read the actualy text itself here:
Read Section 10.1 (a) (i) in the CBA. It's 28 years old OR 7 accrued seasons for unrestricted free agency next summer. Ryder will be 27 with 4 accrued seasons.
Those other guys like Gagne and Gomez started playing at age 20, so they'll already meet the 7 accrued seasons criterion.
Ribeiro will also be 27, but with just 6 accrued seasons, so he will still be RFA too.
Markov will be 28 with 7 accrued seasons, so he's UFA either way.

You shall all trust the Roster thread to see if they are UFA or not

If He is eligible for arbitration next year and scores 40goals will he be cut loose?
