They had a good weekend. Team seems fired up, but you'd expect them to, as many of them are playing for a contract. Gagnon is finding the net regularly. Kubalik seems to have a good offensive sense, but the jury is still out.
Kirzinger, 25, played in 11 games with Ferris State University this season. In that time, the Leroy, SK native recorded four points (1G, 3A) and 17 penalty minutes. He has played in 130 games with Ferris State over four seasons recording 68 points (27G, 41A) and 165 penalty minutes.

Sounds like a guy who battled back from injury this last season.
Was this turn around as simple as getting rid of Macho? Seems like all of a sudden the team is at least competing?
I wouldn't make that much of it.
Machacek also was tied for 2nd for winning the hardest working IceCaps award. He wasn't the same but I think the narrative of room cancer can be overstated. Most of these professionals know it's in their best interests to strive their hardest regardless of someone who wasn't. He definitely didn't do as well as normal and I'm sure it effected the game of the players somewhat, but there is no way one player can cause that much when the other players have way too much riding on their own performance.
I think there was some terrible luck involved plus a really young D-core.
*Pasquale and Dekanich have way worse SV% then their norm. (Pasquale stole a lot of games last season)
*Almost all of the IceCaps sharp shooters have been shooting below their normal SH% (Maxwell, Maceneaur, Gagnon, Jaffaray, Machacek, Burmistrov, King, Cormier, etc were all way under).
*Melchiori, Chiarot, O`Neill and Sol are all playing technically their first full season of AHL pro.
What's O'Dell's game like from a physicality perspective? Like it or shy away? How big/sturdy is he?
6' 190ish lbs...
Not a big guy. Mostly makes plays behind the net or at the top slot. More of a goalscoring centre than setup assist C. Can also play RW.
On the line Mouillierat does a lot of the setting up.
Lunden has been the guy doing the dirty work infront of the net for the line.
So, the IceCaps are playing much better now than when they had Machacek. Hmmmm.
I think that is probably more coincidental than many would like to think.
I was never very high on Machacek as some others here, but still even if his bad attitude was the worst it possibly could be, it can only affect the game so much.
Dex and Eddie all had lower sv% than their norm and most of the teams big guns had terrible sh% relative to their norm. They out shot many teams, and McCambridge said at one point they were recording scoring chances and were beating most teams there too.
I'm not saying that Machacek didn't have any problems, and I'm not saying it didn't effect the team. I just think some are over exaggerating what type of power that would have.
