I really, really disagree with this. R. Smith getting sent down was long overdue, but you have to eventually give your young guys a shot.

Refusing to bring up a guy like Fraser or Sceviour during the middle of this season only makes it harder for the team to get more of our young players into the lineup in the future. Teams will always be hesitant to, straight out of training camp, throw totally untested players into their NHL lineup.

Obviously I disagree with the way that the team let R. Smith suck total *** for such a long period of time at the NHL level, but throwing a guy like Fraser into the fire and seeing if he can rise to the occasion is probably a good idea. If not, just send him back down.

Yeah... unless they're on the clear day roster forget about it.

There is no more clear day roster. I believe they're saying that players have to be on the active AHL roster prior or during the NHL trade deadline to be eligible for playoffs and be moved back and forth.

We saw what this team was like with Eakin, Vincour, and Dillon just before the lockout ended and it was awesome. Only reason they didn't dominate even more was because OKC, Charlotte, and Houston was also loaded.

As for Fraser. Everyone is so ready for him to be sent up. As it is, I'm not fully wiping Dallas' season off the table but right now keep Fraser down in the AHL until after the trade deadline to maintain the confidence and get him into the AHL playoffs. Then bring him up for a few more games depending on how things are going.

Honestly, I don't think he's fully ready. I see him about where R. Smith is in terms of development. Does he deserve a chance? Of course. He may hit that next step of progress in the NHL but it's not like not getting into the NHL this season is going to totally destroy his development.

I've already talked about the playoff situation quite a bit so I want waste everyone's time with the details, but it's going to be interesting to see if these players realistically can't go down.

For the sake of your question ... let's assume they can send everyone down they want to send down.

Reilly Smith-Cody Eakin-Tomas Vincour
Matt Fraser-Travis Morin-Colton Sceviour
Mike Hedden-Justin Dowling-Alex Chiasson
Francis Wathier-Antoine Roussel-Scott Glennie
Toby Petersen-Tom Wandell-Taylor Vause
Luke Gazdic-Mathieu Tousignant-Brett Cameron

Joe Morrow-Jamie Oleksiak
Brenden Dillon-Maxime Fortunus
Jordie Benn-Patrik Nemeth
Tyler Sloan-William Wrenn
Gord Baldwin-Carl Sneep
Hubert Labrie-Mike Commodore

Jack Campbell
Chirstopher Nilstorp

Obviously some of these guys will go away either being releases from a PTO or assigned to the ECHL. This doesn't even include the possibility of Brett Ritchie, Troy Vance, and Jyrki Jokipakka joining the team. Hell even Emil Molin and John Klingberg could even though it's probably unlikely. There is no roster limit in the AHL. Only game day roster limits.

Hmmm...

Going by what I've seen them do before with the lines. I'd see Vause, Tousignant, and Cameron being the forwards scratched. Tousignant would probably be sent to Idaho.

Top 3 lines are pretty much set in stone. It'd be a question of what they do with the 4th. I've yet to see them scratch Petersen so I'd say if they made a decision the fourth line would be:

Roussel-Petersen-Glennie.

Defensively, I'd see them pairing Dillon with Wrenn while Sloan and Fortunus would be paired up. Labrie would be the only one of that group they could/would send down to Idaho.

No matter what, that team would be stacked.

There's too many prospects for Sloan and Fortunus to both be in the Top 6.

I can't see them scratching Dillon, Morrow, Nemeth or Oleksiak, and I think they'd prefer Benn over Sloan.

That's pretty much a guaranteed championship team.

Here's video of Morrow's first game with Texas. 2 assists and a couple good shots. Hope it hasn't been posted:

Oh, I know....

I say those pairings but doesn't mean that they'd sit any of the prospects. I'd think if it came to that point, they'd scratch Fortunus and Sloan at points (Okay, that's me hoping).

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if they scratched Nemeth on occasion. There would be some sort of rotation most likely.

Has anyone found Highlights from last night's game? Texas's Youtube doesn't have it up yet, and Mark's video only has Morrow's shifts.

AHL Live usually puts them up a couple days after the fact.

I didn't want to clutter the prospect thread with Texas stuff:

No I would say he likely wouldn't. Even Reilly Smith played on the 3rd line on Tuesday when he went down. Coach Gulutzen may talk a big game about shuffling lines, but Willie Desjardins truly has proven he likes to stick with familiar lines.

I'd be surprised if these two lines are broken up (assuming all the players remain in the AHL):

Matt Fraser-Travis Morin-Colton Sceviour
Mike Hedden-Jake Dowling-Alex Chiasson

That said, Willie Desjardins is excellent about rotating 4 lines. He never panics with his rotation. It's pretty consistent one line after the other. Therefore even getting into the Bottom 6, Ritchie would see plenty of shifts.

I'm trying to decide where Ritchie would fit in?

Tom Wandell is the only injured regular. IDK what the injury is though. This was the Bottom 6 last game:

Reilly Smith-Taylor Vause-Scott Glennie
Luke Gazdic-Francis Wathier-Toby Petersen

Obviously Smith is back in Dallas. I really like Vause, but I can tell you Willie doesn't trust him when the game is on the line. He was on the bench when Dallas had a 1 goal lead. So let's assume Wandell is healthy soon:

Toby Petersen-Tom Wandell-Scott Glennie
Luke Gazdic-Francis Wathier-Brett Ritchie

Scratches: Vause, Tousignant, Cameron
