I won't lie, I'm really bummed by this. I really wanted Iginla here and that payout doesn't look too steep for us at all

I guess some people are starting to realize how good Shero really is...

The combined cost to get Murray and Morrow would have trumped Boston's offer to get Iggy, IMO

If Calgary wants a forward, why would they go for Morrow?

At the end of the day, Calgary's the seller: it's about what they want in return, not what we're willing to give.

I wonder if Iggy really wants Boston over Pens. It may be a reason why the return is not great.

Wasn't it reported they were willing to offer Khoklachev and a second for Morrow? So they bump up to a first and some 24 year old Dman with 11 NHL games to his credit and they get IGGY??

Bartkowski was drafted in the 7th round for crying out loud!!

People questions a GM. There's a reason he's one of the best GM's in the nhl. All about what have you done for me lately

I think anything less than an epic 7-game Eastern Conference Final between Pittsburgh and Boston will be so disappointing. The last 2 Eastern teams to win the Cup, they've not met in the playoffs in so long, and they are both loading up with older vets wanting a ring for the first time.

I get it, Dups is a nice complimentary player. God Sid would be so unreal if he had someone that could match his talents.
So Basically we need to find a time machine and get Mario, Gretzky, or Bobby Orr in their primes, and bring one of them to 2013 and convert him to a winger.

Sure, on paper, but would Calgary have wanted that? It takes two camps to negotiate, and if Calgary wants **** we're not willing to give up, well.

Yeah, if this turns out the way it seems to be going, I think we have to ask some pretty serious questions about Shero.

I am perplexed to say the least. The rumored package is incredibly underwhelming.

If Calgary was that stuck on a forward then it makes sense but Calgary needs just about everything, not just forwards.

So true, we could've gotten Morrow, Murray AND Iginla if we woulda played hardball with Dallas...or just gotten Sid to call Iggy...

What's to be perplexed about? Who said he's moving tonight?

I'm not worried about Shero this deadline. He moved one of our top prospects for Brenden Morrow. He'll do what he can.

If that ends up being the deal, it strikes me as funny that Flames fans were so amused after the Morrow trade and building their dreamcastles high high into the clouds again. Now they got essentially what Boston was willing to give up for Morrow plus the diff between a 1st and 2nd.

seems to be the case. but keep in mind Dallas preferred J. Morrow to the extent that they didn't even ask B. Morrow to waive for Boston. the inverse case could be at play here. Calgary could prefer Koko over anybody from our blueline stable (including J. Morrow - they've been in talks for a while, right?)

Okay, given the rumors out there and the potential price...I no longer want Iginla. What Shero needs to do...or what I hope he's doing...is talking to another team. As soon as the Iginla trade goes down, Shero jumps on a winger that hasn't gotten as much attention.

Had we not given Morrow, I'd be a bit more liberal in trading a d prospect from the pool. I have to trust that the scouts and management feel Poliot and Maatta are the ways to go over Morrow. Hard for me to accept now because what I saw of Morrow I really liked.

But now that our prospects are an additional 1-2 years away...I worry. Despres and Harrington will no doubt be a nice stop gap.

Letang-Despres
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Engo/Bortz/Murray/Eaton/Mario/Jagr/Wayne/etc

will do for next year. After that year Letang will get the raise, and Orpik will be up. Hopefully Harrington will be ready to take over by then:

Letang-Despres
Harrington-Martin
Niskanen-whoevs

After that year...Martin will be gone and hopefully some of the prospects are ready. Course you never know about UFAs or trades.

At this point I would much rather see a prospect and a later pick or TK and a prospect go out for a longer term winger.

Except we got a 3rd liner and a bottom pairing defensemen.

They got one of the best players in the NHL.
