1) Sid and Nash together for team Canada was a complete train wreck, thus why it became Sid and Iggy.

2) NYR are a much easier team to beat now than last year. They gave up way too much depth to acquire 1 player. I'm glad we didn't give up all of those assets to get a way overpaid winger that we already know had zero chemistry with Sid.

At no time during Iginla trade talks have I gotten sense contract extension had to be incl, but I believe BOS would find a way if necessary.

If THAT is the package that lands Iggy I'll be slightly pissed but in the end it's Feaster. We can't call him up and say "Morrow is as good as ____ on Boston, give us Iggy". They tell us which prospects they value, and we give them up or not simple as that. I doubt Morrow was the guy, in that case. But damn this would suck bad.

Watch it turn out to be Pittsburgh / we all get trolled.

this is the kind of thinking that will give you a lot of heartache. Feaster et al could value Koko more than Morrow and the rest of our d-prospects.

In my opinion Shero does not have the correct approach in building a team. Sid has played 4 regular season games with an elite winger since Shero took over 7 years ago. Instead of making our top 2 lines dominant, he continues to try to fill in holes that are much less important and possibly not even there and then wonder why we can't score against good teams in the playoffs.

Not gonna lie but i think bringing murray in is a good thing. When murray plays iginla he throws him around like he's his little bi***. Maybe shero knew iginla would go to boston so he wanted to add some beef.

It's been a rough year for Shero. The pens had a horrible offseason. Now this...

In Shero you trust. Why exactly?

The first bit might be legit, but a guy who could be a roster player now or is at least a known entity is more valuable than a second round pick.

Its up to Shero at this point, Nash put us on his list of what 3 teams? Iginla put us on his list of 4 teams? If Shero cant get it done its on him. Elite wingers do want to play with elite centers.

There are plenty of reports that Boston was bidding on Morrow too... how do you play hardball when there is a second team driving up the price?... Plus you never know what the flames scouting department is seeing in these prospects... they may see a 7th rounder as having better potential than some 1st round guy that everyone on here loves... you can never tell.

Why can't people understand it takes 2 to tango?

What if Feaster absolutely wanted none of our prospects? We'll never know.

The way I see it, Boston is the more desperate team when it comes to making a move for a top 6 forward. They'll be the ones pressing Calgary to get going on a deal.

Pens could very well have made an offer that fell short. Told Feaster they'll stay in touch.

to that point:

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
FWIW, multiple sources say Iginla to BOS "not done." Is that semantics, as in "not (yet) done?" Or does "not done" actually mean "not done"?

Pretty much this. I swear, I don't understand why this is such a hard concept to get for people here.

Calgary's the one selling. They're the ones setting the price. It's not about who we have or who we're willing to give, but it's about who they want out of the lot.

Clearly that was the problem...I'm just hoping that Shero is going hard as **** at this right now...he kinda HAS to or Morrow is not gonna be as appreciated by the fans as he should be

McKenzie also mention Jordan Caron in a tweet.

If Calgary insisted on forwards, it would be really hard for Pittsburgh to match what Boston is offering.

The Pens' top forward prospect is Beau Bennett and it's not even close. None of you want to give him up and we're probably doing a homer overvaluation of other candidates like Blueger.

Exactly. Shero cant sign respectable winger free agents for whatever reason and hasn't been able to trade for them recently even when they want to play here.

His drafting of defenseman only is really effing up our chances of landing a quality winger.

Had we not given Morrow, I'd be a bit more liberal in trading a d prospect from the pool. I have to trust that the scouts and management feel Poliot and Maatta are the ways to go over Morrow. Hard for me to accept now because what I saw of Morrow I really liked.

But now that our prospects are an additional 1-2 years away...I worry. Despres and Harrington will no doubt be a nice stop gap.

Letang-Despres
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Engo/Bortz/Murray/Eaton/Mario/Jagr/Wayne/etc

will do for next year. After that year Letang will get the raise, and Orpik will be up. Hopefully Harrington will be ready to take over by then:

Letang-Despres
Harrington-Martin
Niskanen-whoevs

After that year...Martin will be gone and hopefully some of the prospects are ready. Course you never know about UFAs or trades.

At this point I would much rather see a prospect and a later pick or TK and a prospect go out for a longer term winger.
Don't forget that Dumoulin should be ready to go next season. May make Orpik expendable in pre-draft trade.

I mean we're awesome and perfect in every single way and maybe Iginla just can't handle all this awesome.
