How about Hossa? Penner? Kovalchuk? Fisher? 1st line forward rentals always get far more than Calgary got for Iginla.

Colborne has played 11 games in the NHL. Koko is a much better prospect. Hell, the "useless" defenseman that the Bruins sent to the Flames has more NHL games than him.

Calgary gets their late 1st or they get Iginla back (most likely), and the d man is equivalent to a second.

It's similar value. It looks bad because Calgary didn't get a "fair" deal. If they wanted a fair deal, they should have dealt him last year.

Colborne hasn't panned out, but at the time he was a first round pick less than three years removed from his draft, holding much more value than he does now.

And what if Iginla signs somewhere else entirely? Usually teams trading rentals don't leave themselves open to get bent over like that. How the hell is Bartkowski worth a second?! He's a 24 year old defenceman with 11 games worth of experience and no upside.

How many 2nd round picks ever have anything that can be deemed an NHL career? 3? 5?

Irrelevant now, he's going to Pitt for a pretty bad return.

fire jay feaster now

rental hossa and rental kovalchuk got way more than rental iginla and even though iginla is older he's jarome mother****ing iginla man

hossa got a 1st round pick, a 1st round player, and 2 NHLers but pens also got 60pt pascal dupuis with hossa

kovalchuk got a 1st round pick, a 1st round player, a solid 20min dman, and bergfors who was doing pretty good as a rookie but ended up not panning out after that trade

iginla gets a 1st round pick, and 5th and 3rd round prospects? wtf should have at LEAST got beau bennet or derrick pouliot

Flames took a bullet and put Jarome in the best place to get a cup. It's too bad they didn't get more but hopefully we see iggy lift that cup.

They still have Kipper to get something out of...

But yea they're in a really bad position, but I dont think Feaster could have done much more with the Iggy trade given the NTC. He's still responsible for their state and should be fired though

So Feaster pretty much had a bad deal from Boston, and then got a worse deal from Pittsburgh.

Wow.

I feel for Flames fans. What a crazy night. At least Iginla has the best chance to win it in Pittsburgh, but still, damn.

Feaster said today that hes not ready for a full rebuild, so that would explain the piss poor return on Jarome.

Unless Iginla was insisting on a trade/swore he wouldn't resign with the Flames, I think Calgary would have been better off keeping him.

Yeah, that's why he claims he wanted "collegiate level" prospects who are old enough to be ready to play in the NHL

What a joke.

So is that why established NHLers far far better than Bartkowski get traded for 2nd round picks all the time?

I really think they will regret not going for a better prospect for Jarome. ither that or trade Glencross, who would fetch more.

Either way, this trade will not make or break them. Their bread and butter will be drafting well in the next few years to build their base.

Jury is still out on Feaster.

And then what? Iginla gets to play the rest of his career with no chance at a Cup, barring a miracle?

Sometimes it's about doing the right thing. Iggy deserves this, and I'm glad he's getting his chance.

Players who win cups as rentals *******. Nice career achievement award I guess but not the same as someone who is with the team the whole season and doesn't have their GM sweetheart them in a deal to the contender of their choice.

This is on par with what other rentals have gotten what did you expect Crosby in return? HF boards has the strangest way of determining trade winner and losers, if Iginla comes back in the offseason then we got 2 prospects + 1st for 2 months of Iggy that is amazing value. Of course if he doesn't that is another discussion. You would think we got nothing for Iginla and traded the first rounder this year with the way people are acting.

Feaster needs to be gone. Period. Along with everything else. Calgary has no vision for now nor the future.

Except the Anton. The Anton lives.
