He is kidding, right? Subban IS a dominant player!
According to them:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...d=nhl:topheads

He is not even in top-8.
I don't agree but it is a good reference for Bergevin when he will negotiate next summer...

For now, PK is second in ppg (.92) behind Letang (1.04). Sutter is third at .87 ppg.
But I would love to see PK get more points ESP.

He was extremely dominant in 2010 that much can't be taken away from him. The one thing about Doughty that constantly gets brought into question is the fire and intensity.

It's the one thing you can never question about Subban, and that's the driving factor in why I believe Subban will end up being the better player for the duration of their careers. The talent level is extremely similar.

Still don't agree with Therrien.

Challenging players is one thing, but public critiquing is another.

People always react better with positive reinforcement.

It's understood that Subban made a poor decision in taking himself out of position, but deal with that in private.

*Therrien's first blatant mistake.

Couldn't watch the game tonight. Considering only one goal was scored, how was he on the defensive end?

If Subban had been drafted 4th overall rather than 45th overall and had subsequently followed an identical career trajectory there would be absolutely no doubt about his top-10 status among NHL dmen.

There's a lot of discrimination based on draft rank, for various reasons sensible and not, and it takes a long time to get past.

guess that's why nobody in the league ever mention guys like Weber or Letang, they're being discriminated.

seriously...

Subban

Can't believe he's playing for our Habs.
(some of you should cover your eyes when he plays since he's never going to be good enough for you, or...just watch the Leafs or Bruins).

I wouldn't take this list too seriously.
Some people vote for Karlsson as the best Dman but he only had one great year.
Weekes puts Edler as the 6th best Dman in the NHL.

Some put Markov in the top 8 and I don't even think our own board would even put him there.

To me, there's 4 true top Dman Chara, Weber, Suter, Keith. The rest is really debatable.

Chara and Weber are 1-2 , you could debate the next 8 but one thing is for sure

MARKOV IS NOT ONE OF THEM , NOT EVEN CLOSE

Won't say much more than that on this topic though but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Man I wish we had Patrice Bergeron or Claude Giroux because Desharnais doesn't cut it for me.
bang on brother about the DD comment , I said it from day one

on any other team , he is demoted

Can someone explain to me how he was +3 when when the rest of the team were either +1, 0 or in the -? He's also by far the best defenseman Montreal has.

Markov-Emelin is dreadful

Gorges is solid on defense but inept offensively, he also hasn't been as good defensively as he was last year.

Hell, I'd argue he's the only really good Dman.

Markov and Emelin were dreadful tonight only. Markov is solid, but a back to back versus #1 and #2 playing 27min in the 2nd game, not surprised he struggled. Having Emelin has a partner tonight didn't really help either.

PK is a gem, he's not just a really good Dman. The kid is amazing, if he's not a Norris candidate this year, it'll raise eyebrows.

Wasn't everyone calling him a genius for signing Subban for cheap? I guess nobody expected Subban to make such a strong case for the Norris.

Maybe Subban doesn't get to this level if he's already got 50M signed and sealed. He's playing like... like he wants his dough. Which is good, I think.

possibly, but usuallly, players play hungry come contract year. PK played hungry since the moment he stepped on the ice. I think it's more like a "You think i play for the money?" attitude. Which is also good, i think

I really want to pull up that PK contract thread and laugh at the silly people who thought he wasn't the best dman on the team or thought he should be traded or that the bridge contract was a good idea. He is a game breaker, period and rises to the occasion in high stakes games.

Bergevin will pay through the nose dearly and only has himself to blame.

That's the idea. Bergevin will not be "punished" for Subban's next contract.

It's like with anything. You perform, you get rewarded. Having Subban play at this level and then paying him a big contract is the ideal.

No losers in this scenario.

That move that he almost pulled off would have been goal of the year had it come off.

He was a machine IMHO a long long time ago.
For example...when he shut down Crosby in the playoffs (that was not recently).

I laugh when some people here say that Markov is passing the torch to Subban!!! There was no torch to be passed since Chelios, Harvey and Robinson left. And...I don't want any of Markov's bad luck (health jinx) going to iron-man Subban. BTW, yes I'm very happy Markov is healthy...for once.

Subban is a warrior in the regular season.
He's a warrior in the playoffs.
I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT IN A LONG LONG TIME in a HAB jersey (and not just for our Habs but in the NHL...a dman with amazing heart/work-ethic/speed/talent/skill/extremely smart-underrated defense, sky-is-the-limit offense...one of the most entertaining dmen to ever play the game in the history of the NHL).

PK Subban is the best dman to wear the Habs jersey ever. Period. Point final.

We need another Subban (Jordan Subban)...and then I can rest in peace!

Apparently PK had a Bobby Orr-esque moment tonight? Anyone have a clip of it?

pretty much his usual from behind the net end to end rush, a HUGE difference though is that he didnt force the play like he was doing in previous years, he just went where he saw a hole.

definitely read the play better there, WAY better
