Since their debilitating rash of forward injuries began the Canucks have been winning with a purely defensive style and good goaltending. They haven't had to try it against a skilled team yet.

Darren Dregger, aka the unofficial mouthpiece of the NHL, apparently spoke a few minutes ago on TSN about the NHL seriously considering relocation for the Coyotes next season, with Quebec City seemingly being the favorite, in spite of the proposed realignment, as the league doesn't view Key Arena as a suitable NHL venue.

However, this tweet....

Quote:
@DarrenDreger
Quebec City, Seattle and Kansas City among relocation sites. Aside from conference issues, Que City appears best fit. Far from done deal...
https://twitter.com/DarrenDreger/sta...90095582830592
Gives me some serious pause. Nobody's seriously talked about Kansas City in a while, due to the apparent lack of an interested owner. Could something new be on the horizon on that front from there?

KC doesn't have ownership group ready

When they get ownership group together they will get team (Arena is top notch)

As for Key Arena ,, Its true. Former Sonics owner completely ruined it as even a temporary NHL venue

Yeah, I know. Everything that's ever been made public is that Kansas City is nowhere close to having an interested ownership group, but specifically mentioning it amongst the likes of Seattle and Quebec City just seems so crazy that you almost have to think that maybe there's something we don't know going on behind the scenes.

Well KC has the arena (Neither of them do) so it has to be in conversation

They have had people express some interest but it comes down to as of now there is not enough interest to form a true ownership group

Remember the Isles have played some preseason games there so there has been testing of KC waters

Ducks go down 3-0 early against the Sharks, in danger of suffering their 4th straight regulation loss.

Hawks may have a chance to put a 7 point cushion between the teams, with a game in hand, come Friday night.

True, but since then there've been effectively no positive rumblings. Heck, the mayor even came out and said that they only wanted a winner to come to his town, in a painfully obvious way to try to hide like they're anything other than beggars for a team.

At least Quebec City has a viable owner in place, an actual media plan already established with their own channel, an old arena that has been used as an NHL barn in the past, a new arena being built, and a proven fanbase. Only thing going against them is the alignment (in which case, lolDetroit eventually getting booted back here).

If they can't get KC owners, Portland would work really well too. Or even Saskatoon, with the way Winnipeg's been, and the way Saskatchewan supports their CFL team (Roughriders merchandise outsells the rest of the CFL)

Markham, Ontario voted to approve funding for an NHL sized arena to be built this past January. You would have to think the Toronto area would have enough demand for a second NHL team.

I don't care what teams are added, just as long as we get to play the easier team in our new division

QC will get the team, the Wings with more ties to WC teams will be put back in the west and their crying will continue despite many teams like Chi, Min, Nas, having to deal with very similar travel and time issues.

It's why the proposed re-aliment was so ridiculous to begin with, wait till you move Phoenix before a huge change. Only issue needed changing now was put Winnipeg in the NW.

Pretty much.

Rather see them in Seattle and have KC and QC as expansion teams.

Would be interesting to see Detroit pull off a deal for J-Bo. He could really jumpstart that team.

The other rumors of Miller being on the block are intriguing too, Tampa would be a great fit for him.

I'm just so glad this is shaping up to be an exciting, busy deadline. It's a great time to be a fan.

Coyotes with 5 goals in the first 8:30 against the Preds. Preds proceed to score 2 in 30 secs to make it 5-2 less than 10 min into the game.

Saskatoon doesn't have a 3rd of the metro population that Winnipeg has. And no corporate support. They will NEVER have a team. Omaha is a better market for the NHL than friggen Saskatoon.
