I expect both to be great fits. I expect Morrow on the third line after April 3rd. Which is just nasty depth. And having Nisky/Murray as your bottom pairing gives us the best D-corps in the game IMO. Especially if Despres gets a chance with Letang and runs with it.

They're good now until Malkin or Letang come off IR.

Active Roster (23):
  1. C. Adams
  2. B. Bennett (waiver exempt)
  3. R. Bortuzzo
  4. M. Cooke
  5. S. Crosby
  6. S. Despres (waiver exempt)
  7. P. Dupuis
  8. M. Eaton
  9. D. Engelland
  10. M. Fleury
  11. T. Glass
  12. D. Jeffrey
  13. T. Kennedy
  14. C. Kunitz
  15. P. Martin
  16. B. Morrow
  17. D. Murray
  18. J. Neal
  19. M. Niskanen
  20. B. Orpik
  21. B. Sutter
  22. J. Vitale
  23. T. Vokoun

Injured Reserve (2):
  1. K. Letang
  2. E. Malkin

I fully expect Despres and/or Bennett to be sent down to WBS as Letang and/or Malkin are activated off IR, then recalled on Apr 4.

added bonus: WBS could really use the offensive boost of Bennett/Després for a few days as they make their playoff-push.

Quote:
Anyway, it’s going to be a tough slog for WBS if they don’t get some offensive help in the next week, but the transactions of the last two days show pretty clearly what the priorities are in the Penguins organization. They want to win a Cup right now. Any deal that benefits WBS would have to fit within that framework. As it should be.

O.K. The lineup tonight was interesting.

I'll guess that DB is waiting for Murray to play to add more grittiness. When this happens, I think we will have enough grittiness with Morrow and Murray, so our fourth line can contain players like Vitale and Adams and maybe Bennett or TK.

In other words, what in the world is it going to take to have the player that rhymes with "ass" not be in the lineup?

Looking like the Bruins are leading the way in the Iginla trade according to the yahoo pundits for what that's worth.

Do we have the assets to trade for a promising young goalie? What if we traded for a goalie to add to the trade for Iginla? If Subban is what Clgy wants then lets get a Subban added to the trade.

why would we trade for a promising young goalie? We don't have enough assets to trade for ones that we don't need.

I was just curious since Subban's name came up and I can see the Flames needing a young goalie. I see your point and it's a good one thanks

The team is tough as balls now. Also have a large collection of vets who are playing for their stanley cup. The new guys will be smelling blood in the water.

Bubble guys:

Cooke, Vitale, Glass, Kennedy, Adams, Jeffrey

I think Glass or Kennedy and Vitale or Jeffrey are gone if we move two.

With the additions of two hard nosed captains in Morrow and Iginla not only are the top 2 lines looking ridiculous on paper but the power play units also look potentially stupid.

Man oh man that's literally perfect...

But it won't happen. Somehow either Adams or Glass will find their way into the lineup.

I want to see Kennedy traded and a better PKer to take his spot in the lineup. With Adams or Vitale and Glass likely being bumped from the lineup, I think we need at least 1 more guy who can kill penalties in the forward group.

One thing people in Pittsburgh may not know is that Iginla is great on the point on the powerplay. He has a wicked and accurate one timer and is deadly with it on the point. Seeing Letang or Crosby feeding him will be amazing to see.

Sick forward core, made to win in the playoffs! Bravo Ray Shero

Hopefully Morrow still has some gas left in the tank, because Iggy and Sid will be taking all the first defensive pairings on. If Morrow can be that missing piece for the Malkin line, and do some of the dirty work ala what Kunitz did last year, the Pens would effectively possess two *far* above average first lines...a scary proposition for any opponent come April.

Letang couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with his shot, but you cant deny his excellent passing skills. I have no problems seeing him passing cross the blueline to Iginla for a one timer.
