People are overreacting big time.

EVERYONE in the hockey world thought the trade was a done deal, Aaron Ward had confirmation from reliable sources that it was done.

Feaster pulled a troll job at the last second that no one saw coming.

I don't blame Ward at all, and I still find him as credible as I ever did.

Maybe something from a few bitter fans...nothing else. Aaron has actually been pretty good for rumours and it was Bobby Mac and Dregsy backing him, it's was just a cluster**** that no one saw coming. Except for maybe Renaud Lavoie.

Agree with the main point but you gotta think this was all Iginla.

I think...Feaster thought Boston's deal was better and thought Iggy wanted to go to Boston cause he was on the list but Iggy wanted to go to Pittsburgh more and the Pens tossed the Flames a late offer before a deal was officially made with Boston. Feaster did the honourable thing by respecting Iggy's wishes.

You may be right... although it probably cost the Flames organization in the long run.

Had Feaster not said anything to Iginla about the Pens offer, he would've consented to Boston and Calgary would've got a better return.

Given the situation in Boston and Calgary tonight. All of the blame can not be put on him.

Koko was put as a healthy scratch just before the P Bruins game in Providence.

Krug was also called up to play against the Habs tonight. While Bartkowski was a healthy scratch for the Bruins.

Then Iginla was a health scratch in Calgary.

Combine that will all media outlets calling the Bruins "front runners" for the trade.

Everything was in place for Iginla to go to Boston, it was like the planets aligned and the heavens opened up.

With the sudden M Night Shamalamadingdong twist, someone was bound to report the trade wrong. Ward was just the unlucky guy.

Why/how does NHL.com report a Iginla trade to Boston though?

ok lets say they lose their broadcasting rights ( since reporting is an exact science like all of us hfboard posters/ broadcasters know) do you think they can reapply for their broadcasting rights next year or are broadcasting rights equal for all canadian citizens.

what about universal broadcasting rights, isnt that what this world has been fighting for for so long.

Personally i didn't even know broadcasting was a right.

To be fair, Ward's job is more of an analyst for TSN Hockey broadcasts, and I'd rather hear about the game from a former player/coach then some random guy who's never played professional hockey in his life. Although there are obviously rare exceptions, like myself who is a lifelong avid hockey fan of all ranks and is applying to a journalism/radio program, but for the most part the views of a former player/coach are going to be better for a sports program.

In all honesty. I think it was a done deal with Boston. However, Iginla stressed that he wanted to go to the Pens in some way shape or form. Given everything he has done for the team I'm sure Feaster was more than happy to oblige.

I feel bad for Flames. They got the **** end of the stick with this one. Not that Boston's deal was much better.....however, it was still better than what they ended up getting.

Plus, everyone knows Feaster isn't the brightest bulb in the room.

Because some of us like to hear opinions from guys who actually played hockey not the opinions of internet hockey forum posters who never played hockey even as kids but go to journalism school and then become ''experts'' and ex players/coaches/gm's have better sources than a guy from journalism school unless he's in the business for a very long time and slowly builds them up.

Amazing thread. CBC's national coverage of Hockey Night In Canada better than TSN's national coverage? Friedman is the only one on there that is any good.

I bet his source told him that Calgary and Boston had agreed on a trade, and he interpreted it as a done deal. This was a weird situation however, as Feaster had also agreed(or would have accepted) at least 2 others and the offer he selected was down to Iginla.

Ward is garbage. Just another face pushed by TSN as an "expert". I love it when this stuff happens to these over inflated windbags. Especially one with as little to say as Ward.

Because they are so often so wrong and lack so much knowledge, right?

Nah. Its the only good sports channel in Canada, and thus the only good hockey sports channel. The Score and Snet suck balls. Especially sportsnet. You are talking about a network that put freaking EKLUND on air. EKLUND!

lol what kind of penalty are you gonna put on a guy for reporting that? no reporting for the next week? fire him over it? Ward has been a really good analyst/reporter for TSN for a while now and will continue to be. I'm sure his embarrassment to his colleagues is more punishment than anything else.

I mean for years the product has just been deteriorating to the point where it is almost getting unwatchable...

Now their coverage really seems to be at an all time low... they have the worst on air crew in probably any sports production in North America with guys like James Duthie, Dave Hodge and Craig Button and the constant gimmicks are just a joke.

I know they are a Canadian network so it is to be expected a little bit..but the favoritism to Canadian players is just so silly...Jonathan Toews the 3rd best player in the league? lol... Though I can't wait to tune in next week for their 30 min panel on Team Canada 2018.

It's honestly become so bad I think Sportsnet should be get the national rights again.. they've learned after the whole boston pizza party thing.
lol is this real life. find a hobby and leave your parents basement.

I think HFBoards moderators should be more careful when using the "confirmed with link" tag. I thought they put it too fast on the Morrow deal, and on the Iginla deal as well.

Waking up to this news made my day - all is forgiven here, Ward-O...

It made the Pens formidable, but I can at least respect Iginla again. Will we hear 'Iggy!' every game now?
