This led to the odd Fight matchup between the two:
When asked about the punch and the fight after the game Boyle confirmed, "On the short-handed goal, [Perry] sucker-punched me in the face," he said. "It just kind of carried on from there."
There was speculation on twitter/various other sites that this could earn Perry a game considering the blatant nature of the punch as well as his recent history, just coming off a suspension. I don't really expect anything to happen knowing the DoPS, nothing will come of it...
I'm looking for a video to embed, i'll change it out when i find it. but in the meantime i linked to the video from nhl.com it occured during the rush for the goal. i think it's pretty obvious, it happens right at the beginning of the video.
Disgusting. I'd like to see suspensions for this kind of crap. No, Boyle didn't get hurt and it's not an extremely violent play like a hit to the head, but it is absolutely no attempt to play the puck or anything like that. Just Perry deciding to take Boyle out of the play by sucker punching him.
What a worthless piece of garbage Perry is. Earlier in the season when the Canucks were handing it to the Ducks, Edler had a big hit on Perry and Perry tried fighting him but Edlers not a fighter so Ballard went after Perry and he refused. Ballard was after Perry the entire night and Perry kept *****ing out. Then, randomly, Perry jumps Ballard out of nowhere with his visor on and after the fight takes his visor off trying to pretend he never had it on. Scum.
I know people hate Perry but whos the victim here?
You obviously did not read the original post or watch the linked video of the offense. or read any of the other posts in this thread where i said i would embed a video when i found one. Check out the blatant punch when back checking on the short hander linked in the OP then get back to us.
The OP is VERY misleading...the sucker punch is on the SH goal scored by Wingels, linked as the NHL.com video above the youtube video. The youtube video is the resulting altercation and fight later in the game.
If this is a random player I'd say a fine or no discipline, for Perry I'd say a game or two...you gotta hope one day he learns, this is just a stupid stupid play.
