Epic failure by Chia, I wake up to this, I am stunned. The Pandawful experiment continues, hey at least we got Daugavins.

They says that Iginla picked Pittsburg as his destination. I'm not sure why Chiarelli didn't close out the deal. He should have made an offer that CGY would have say "Yes" if you was convince that Iginla was "the" guy. There's a lot of moving parts involved in a trade but i can't help but to think that Chiarelli drop the ball on that one.

Per Bob McKenzie:
Quote:
Jarome Iginla traded to PIT for PIT's 1st rounder in 2013 and college prospects Kenneth Agostino (Yale) and Ben Hanowski (St. Cloud State).
Wow. Also said CGY preferred Bruin's offer but Iginla chose Penguin's. This. Really. ****ing. Sucks.

Especially after hearing Boston was Iginla's preferred destination.

Not only do the Penguins get Iginla... they ****ing get him for peanuts. **** Shero.

He DID make CGY an offer they said yes to. Iginla vetoed the deal to go to Pittsburgh instead.

Iginla has a NMC, it has nothing to do with offering CGY more to make a deal occur. It's Iginla's call.

It really comes to down to us not looking like a cup winning team and Pitt is on a 13 game winning streak. Iginla made his choice, and as much as it hurts I can't blame him. We're not going to win a cup with this team.

Yep. Bottom line is Iginla picked Pittsburgh because it's the easiest ride to the Cup.

Hard to blame him but... this sucks. Penguins got him for essentially nothing. On the plus side, Iginla is a pure rental for them. No way he re-signs there after the season. But still.. I'm really sour on Iginla right now. I'm sour on the whole thing.

Pretty much. So much for Boston being his "preferred" destination.

Chiarelli and Feaster had an agreement, to the point where it ended up on nhl.com.

Iginla chose Pittsburgh.

Welp. Goodluck to anyone who has to deal with me at work today.

Boards have yet to *really* blow up here... goodluck mods! I think most of the regulars here went to bed thinking that Iginla was going to be a Bruin this morning. Won't be a pretty sight.

Yes, when it came down to decision making time, Iginla's "4 team list" became a "1 team list" of Pittsburgh. Any reports that had us as his favorite destination were clearly off base.

I don't blame him at all, except for the whole 4 team list thing. If you want to be a Penguin, go be a Penguin. It just sucks that it happened in this fashion with Chia wasting so much time, Koko being pulled and realizing he's being dangled in trade talks and the Bruins fan base getting their hopes up with all the reports it was either almost done or totally done. And it's not exactly an ideal situation in Flames land where you know you aren't getting the package that you preferred.

Could always re-up with them for a million bucks a year for 3 years. Then he can win more cups!

Kidding aside. I'm not ready to hand the Penguins anything just yet. I hope they draw the Rangers in the first round and it's a blood bath.

Also, if I'm Chiarelli I just stick with this team moving forward. No reason to move our prospects this year in hopes of winning a stanley cup. It's going to the Penguins this year.

Well... It's time to focus on 3rd line and D. We might survive with our top 6 but we definitely need an upgrade elsewhere...

Adam McQuaid and Chris Kelly!

I'm gonna assume the Yeti isn't coming. Hemsky and Whitney still on the table?

A some others have said, I can't ultimately blame him; goes where he sees the best chance to get a cup.

Now, what I'd LOVE to see happen is a Hossa situation....goes to the Pens while they're stacked, but loses. Then goes elsewhere to get the cup....
