Need a few more listens of Vampire Weekend's new songs before making a call on whether I like them or not. Felt the same way upon hearing Contra, skeptical at first but now love Contra. I'm sure their new album will deliver, but unfortunately for me their debut was so strong and now one of my favourite albums, I think I'll always be a little let down by new releases.

Be interested in seeing what you think of it. I bought the deluxe version from dead oceans (who've released some great albums this year) which included LP, CD, and digital download, plus a bunch of other little things.

first time i've done that in forever. the album is that good, in my opinion.

After my first listen, the album is brilliant. Perfect blend of his soulful old alt. country and a new progressive sound. Quotidian Beasts, Ride On / Right On, Terror in the Canyons... fantastic songs.
Wouldn't too be afraid to put it ahead of Woundrous Bughouse for my favorite album this year so far.

New The National album in May.

I'm gonna listen to the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album but it appears as if they've gone soft. I'm disappointed because I just found them and had hoped they had more songs like Berlin, Stop, Spread Your Love, etc.

I'm perhaps a quarter of the way through Bowie's new album. I'm not terribly impressed.

The second single of "The mystery of time" is out and it is so fantastic.

This will be the greatest album of 2013. Very popy just like other Avantasia singles, this could be the best popish song he has made. Its up there with Carry me over atleast.

I agree. I really enjoyed Wondrous Bughouse, and it was my number one album on the year thus far, until Muchacho came along. Just a brilliant album. We had a nice day here, weather wise, and I put the album on my ipod and went for a long drive down some old dirt roads with the window rolled down. Perfect music for it.

I'm pumped for my vinyl copy of this album to get here. It's going to sound great on vinyl.

Just finished it. Never was a big Bowie guy like some, tried to get into his music for quite awhile, almost in a forced educational sort of way but he could never do it for me. I wanted to give this album a try to see if the 2013 version would've changed anything and done something for me. To no avail. It's not bad by any means. Just not my cup of tea is all.

Figured I'd keep up with this thread considering I've been immersed in a lot of new music this year.

Not surprised that the Strokes new album wasn't mentioned this week.

Channel Orange opened me up to the whole R&B category last year, so I checked out Justin Timberlake's new one - I wasn't disappointed.

"Strawberry Bubblegum" is definitely a standout track.

Also digging Wavves' album Afraid of Heights. Cool surf rock tunes. They'd be a solid summer festival band to check out.

BRMC's new one is good too. But they haven't really put out a show-stopper since Howl .

Been listening to it the last couple days. It isn't great but it isn't terrible. Couple solid tracks, couple misses. Sounds like they at least tried though. I really like "Call It Fate, Call It Karma" for some reason.

Deerhunter's "Monomania" comes out May 3rd. This is my most anticipated album of the year behind Arcade Fire's 4th.

Really digging this band right now. They just released their debut album last week. That lead singer's got one hell of a soulful voice.

I'll chime in on that new Strokes album. It kind of sucks. Not really, but kinda. I could do without it. Last 2 albums have been lackluster. But if that's your thing it's all good. Thing is I used to like 'em. Now they feel boring and generic.

Later this year supposedly. I love Lauren Mayberry's voice.

Hopefully a studio version of I Will Die for V will be on it. This has already become one of my favorite covers, ever.

I like CHVRCHES but that's a pretty terrible cover IMO. Why not just listen to the original, it's so much better...
