why? he's in a totally different situation now than when he was with the Preds. Pens have plenty of money and no worries about giving up the future to stock up for now. The only other time in our history that we were in a similar situation, poile traded for Forsberg.

youre Poile hate is unfounded and not credulous.

Last year at the draft, Shero could have kept Jordan Staal another season as his third-line center and risked losing him for nothing as an unrestricted free agent this summer. But after being rejected when he offered Staal a 10-year contract, Shero immediately assessed the situation and dealt Staal to the Carolina Hurricanes for Brandon Sutter, a prospect and the eighth overall choice in the 2012 draft.

I know they're hot, but I'd love another re-match with the Ducks. I honestly think they'd have an equal chance, only difference being the Ducks series would actually be entertaining.

Actually with the Wild's best defenseman being Suter, I'd love to match up against them.

I love Suter's game, he's a great defenseman despite how he screwed us up, which if we're being honest is just as much on Poile.

But Suter despite all his strengths is weak in front of the net, which is the only spot in the offensive zone we have good players.

You can hate our cycle and transition game all you want but Gabby and Hornqvist are great in front of the goalie, if you don't move them, they'll make you pay.

Now the Blues get Bouwmeester.

Pietrangelo-Bouwmeester
Shattenkirk-Jackman
Leopold-Polak

Best defense in the West?

With Elliott in net if Halak is out for a while... They will need them to be

Jbo has one more year on his deal at 6.8

if we had been serious contenders this year i think Poile would have made a run at him, but as it is it makes no sense.

pretty easy to do when the guy you are trading is behind Crosby and Malkin on the depth chart and a Cup already in your trophy case, not to mention cash in the bank to spend on a replacement

methinks it would have been different if he was their #1C and they were heading into their first legit cup contender year ever with a tight budget

Former Predator Smithson traded to Edmonton for a 4th round pick. We got a 6th for him last year.

I can't believe a 4th for Smithson. I was always a fan of his work ethic but he's 4th liner on a good day. Not sure what the Oilers are seeing in him to give up a 4th.

I hate the bugs but you sorta have to feel good for their fans getting to have their team be buyers for once....

but now that they have had their little moment of joy we need to make sure we squash the life out of their playoff hopes.... would be uber sweet if the last game of the season rolls around and we can be the ones to send them packing...

I agree, it is definitely exciting for anyone to be going for it.

And yes, I also hope we beat them every game we have against them rest of the year.

If we beat them tomorrow night it puts a pretty big dent in any playoff chances.

Informed speculation: Erat for Forsberg, with some other things involved. Erat has a no-trade clause but wants out.

Unfortunately only one 1st rounder. They got some nice prospects though.

Turned out to be a crazy trade deadline. I thought it'd be slow.

Oh.My.God.

Bryz just ducked to avoid a puck coming at his head, which of course ended up in the net. My wife and I are still laughing.

Boy, Clowe looks better with the Rangers. I think all of the Rangers new players scored tonight and Clowe added 2.

Brassard, Moore and Clowe all with goals.
