I can't imagine Shero being fine with no draft picks.

Maybe we also trade Letangs rights for something pre-draft. These moves make me love the evil shero genius so much more. Now when working with Malkin and Letangs camp we have that, "well if you walk we can always resign Iginla (or try)".

TO THE CAP EXPERTS, WHAT WOULD WE NEED TO DO TO RESIGN IGINLA?
yea somehow someway I'd like to be able to get a 1st or 2nd back in this draft.

Don't see it likely but it is possible - after the playoffs you could try to package someone like Orpik/Kennedy/Bortuzzo/Niskanen (whatever) for some picks.

It would be really tough (almost impossible) to re-sign Igninla with the cap going down so much next year. He'd have to really take a discount.

Absolutely. I watch a ton of hockey and Malkin is one of my favourites, but I definitely see him being the better fit with Crosby. Keep Bennett in your top 6 and have Morrow straight up dominate the other teams along side Sutter and Dupuis on the third.

On bridge. Talk me down if Glass is still in lineup now

I am grateful for all the moves (esp) Igilna that the Pens have made this year. If this still means Tanner Glass is in the lineup, then I am sorry, but I must end it all.

There cannot be any room for Tanner Glass on this roster. If there is, Bylsma needs fired immediately.

Fired immediately? That's a stretch. But I agree with you, there's no reason he should be scratched the vast majority of the time. The PK would be fine without him.

This is what I want, and I think this is reasonable for the playoffs (taking into account Beau is a rookie) - notice who is not on the team in my scenario:
Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Morrow-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Dupuis
Bennett-Adams-Kennedy
(Jeffrey, Vitale)

This is what Bylsma (and Shero) will probably do unfortunately:
Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Morrow-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Adams-Dupuis
(Bennett, Vitale)

1. Tyler Kennedy will be traded.
2. I'd put an asterik next to that 2nd line and wouldn't be stunned to see Dupuis (not Bennett if a switch is needed) end up there when all is said and done.

In certain game situations I would love to see a Morrow - Sutter - Iginla line rolled out. Just to wreak havoc on the opponent and wear them down.

Bylsma commenting in the press conference that he's not inclined to break up the Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis line.

Really? Given the proven chemistry between Iggy and Sid, that's surprising.

Kunitz - Crosby - Iginla
Bennett/Morrow - Malkin - Neal
Bennett/Morrow - Sutter - Dupuis
Cooke - Vitale - Adams/Glass/TK/Jeffrey

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Iginla - Malkin - Neal
Morrow - Sutter - Cooke
Bennett - Vitale - Adams/Glass/TK/Jeffrey

Interesting potential log jam on the fourth line. Wonder what Shero's going to do about that?

I really don't think he can. If he keeps the first line in tact, then a Neal-Malkin-Iginla line would ream second pairings league wide (or force the other team to consider giving Sid second pairings). If he doesn't, then you've got Kunitz-Sid-Iginla, which should overcome even the best units although you'd hope the Geno LW situation works out to exploit THAT advantage. Either way, Bylsma really can't **** it up if the goal is the Pens winning the cup.

It'll be interesting if they move Neal to LW. Honestly, that wouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe it gets him more engaged away from the puck.

Morrow - Malkin - Neal
(Again, Geno and Neal are a give-in, and Morrow can be this line's Kunitz. We're going to fall in love with Morrow, and this line.)

Bennett - Sutter - Dupuis
(Oh what, we have three first lines? This is the best two-way third-line in the league. Congratz Beau, you've made it.)

Cooke - Adams - Kennedy
(It kills me to see Vitale as the odd man out, but Adams is a solid PKer and last minute guy, and has done more to earn the spot. If TK is gone at the deadline, Vitale's in).

I'm much less sure about defense, but here goes nothing...

Murray - Letang
(Crankshaft will have to earn this spot, but I think he will. You don't need speed to be Letang's partner. Murray is going to hold **** down.)

Orpik - Martin
(Very good pairing this season. Same sort of set-up as the 1st pairing. I don't see Martin slowing down at all.)

Despres - Niskanen
(The young guns hold down a solid two-way pairing that we can feel comfortable playing at any moment in a game).

I cannot believe a line-up can look this good in the salary cap era.
Best one so far. Hopefully Despres and Bennet stay... Eaton/Engelland can be depth D for the run and TK can be traded.

These are the exact lines I want DB to roll. If there's one more move to be made it has to be an upgrade on the PK to play instead of TK. Or maybe you just trade TK and play Adams. Either way, who cares! What a stacked team.

Does Iginla bump Kunitz off the top PP unit? or Neal for that matter?

I really want to start a new thread for this, but afraid of getting MODDED!!!!

so I'll just say it here:

Bennett - Malkin - Neal

Letang - Martin

Iginla - Crosby - Kunitz

Niskanen - Despres

For PP units?

This is what I expect, this would be better:

Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Morrow-Malkin-Neal
Dupuis-Sutter-Kennedy
Cooke-Vitale-Bennett

What a dynamic fourth line. Adams is about at the end of his useful playing career.

Is anyone else excited about the kind of shut down line we can put together with Dupuis and Sutter now what we can slot Dupuis out 1st line duty?

I think there's two things that you do with the lines now that we have Iginla.

1. You play Iginla with Crosby. The man is a first liner and he makes the players around him better. You don't acquire a first liner to play on the 3rd line.
2. Don't take Kunitz away from Sid. He's tremendous with Sid and I don't think you can take him away. While I don't want to see Dupuis taken away, I think he (and the team) could benefit more from having Dupuis on the third/fourth.

I would like to see:

Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Morrow-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Dupuis
Bennett-Vitale-Kennedy

You have a mix of every player on every line. The amount of scoring, shutdown, and checking ability will be hard to match.

I wonder how any other team in the league gets by without PK'ers like Glass and Adams. Man they must have it rough.
