That's a bit insane for that amount of money and for that length of time. At least for time, I would have predicted maybe a 2-year deal.

Too bad they aren't in our division anymore.

That contract will be an albatross.

I think the length is long on Semin's contract by a couple of years but you're never going to get someone to sign who will become a big UFA for a short to medium term length. It just doesn't ever happen. The price per year is about right for a guy who will fluctuate from 55 points a year to a point per game. He's also very responsible defensively which many people never believe.

Where in the world is Peter Taticek?

I was thinking of this question the other day. He is currently playing for HC Davos in Switzerland's National League A.

on the other hand, as fans of a team that gave Ed Jovanovski a 4 year contract at $4.125m per, we're the pot calling the kettle black.

You forgot Upshall and Kuba. We definately can't throw stones but at least Kuba is only 2 years.

Sounds like Igilina is headed to Boston for Matt Bartkowski and Alex Khokhlachev and a first-round draft pick.

Wonder what the Panthers equivalent prospects would be to that package (not that he wanted to come here).

I guess that's okay-ish value for Iginla. Should have traded him years ago thou and they would have got a lot more than that.

Woudn't it be funny if we beat the Pens in two weeks?

That's not buying that's taking a risk. They're giving up future assets for a better chance at the cup. You can bet your last dollar if we're in the position to make a run, Tallon will use a couple of these picks/prospects he's acquired to help us.

Plus this is almost a certain rental. The Pens don't have the space to sign him back next year.

Imagine he wins the cup with the Pens, then signs back with Calgary in the offseason?

Exactly, this is why you stockpile future assets when you have the chance to get them for mediocre players. The Penguins have given up A LOT over the past week. Just for Iginla they gave up a 1st and two of the best forwards in college hockey.

Regardless of opinion, I will be certainly rooting for any team the plays against the penguins in the playoffs.

IDK... Pens winning is good for the NHL. Personally, I'm looking forward to cheering against the Canadian teams

Flames fans are furious at Feaster as Boston gave a better deal for him. I think it was pretty much up to Iginla on where he wanted to go and he chose Pittsburgh strictly to play with Crosby and Malkin.

Sure, this is a huge asset for the Pens to have, but it doesn't guarantee them a Cup. People seem to forget that teams like the Hawks, Habs, Canucks, and Ducks are doing pretty damn good this season as well.

I definitely see this move just as an opportunity to win the Cup in Pittsburgh and think that there's a good chance that he could sign in Calgary again next season before retiring at some point.

I kind of feel bad for Aaron Ward, whom reported that the Bruins officially signed Iginla last night. Obviously, he's a really embarrassed individual today. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes
