Are you kidding? They barely gave up anything.

Crosby is healthy so they want to take a run at the cup

Both those prospect project to never seeing an NHL game in their lives and the first is very late.

So, Feaster just traded the face of the franchise for the 30th pick

They just picked up Douglas Murray who will do very well for them in the playoffs.
Iginla is hardly a "meh" move. This trade will knock off 10 years for Iginla. I'm an Oilers fan and I cried a little down my leg at the thought of Iginla playing with Crosby, Malkin, Letang, ect.
There are 15 fanbases that dont like this trade - 14 are in the Eastern conference, and Flames fans- not even close to the return they were hoping for. Agostino has 3rd line potential, Hanowski has 2nd line potential, and the greatest potential of all is that pick to be 30th.
I'm going to get my moneys worth of that Game Centre app

Aren't picks for playoff teams dictated by their success in the playoffs, not by regular season standings?

This pool needs to grow and this is a way to do it.

The Flames are looking into the future and not in the past. That is what I am happy with.
From a philosophical standpoint sure, the Flames turning the page is the right thing to do so you should be happy with that for certain.

When it comes to value you got hosed and it is highly unlikely that Ago becomes anything close to more than a fringe NHLer. He just isn't that good. His play at Yale isn't anything special and he is often overpowered.

The first is your best bet to get some quality out of the deal. I think its fair to say that most people were happy to see the Flames move Iggy and get on with rebuilding the team again. Its the return that is lame. Feaster really has been the worst GM the Flames have had. This deal cements it.

What an awful deal for the Flames. Just terrible return for their franchise player. How couldn't Boston do better than this?

That is kind of like asking why I agreed to go out with a Victoria Secrets model. The short answer is that Crosby has made due with average at best wings for years. The main reason though is that it improves the team.

As for the defense the Pens never lacked the skill. The system and desire to play properly was lacking earlier this year. They have shown that they can do just fine when they want to. Nine goals allowed in the last nine games. And they added the one thing that they lacked. A crease clearing defenseman in Murray.

Long and short of it is that you are a minority of one that questions this move.

Jay Feaster makes Scott Howson look like a genius. And that's no small feat!

Victorias secret model could have a ****** personality

Anyway, I agree, why not make the move. Still, offense hasn't been there downfall and I think they should have gone after a top pairing D-man.

Murray is nothing more than a slow, bottom pairing D-Man.

I woke up this morning expecting Boston and was pleasantly surprised to see Pittsburgh. I've let this soak in all morning before commenting. I really hope Feaster knows what he is doing Flames fans. On the surface this deal is so underwhelming I want to throw up. Pitts kept all their top prospects......Maata, Harrington, Pouliot, Bennett and Depres.......I am so baffled by this move, Calgary could have got something a lot better.

Good for Pittsburgh
Good for Montreal (I hate Boston)
Very bad for Calgary

im on the west coast so maybe im out of the bubble a little bit here but who the hell are these guys that Calgary got for Iginla?? 1st round pick is good but ive never heard of the other 2 players, are they any good? This trade, as of now, seems as though Pittsburgh ripped the Flames off

Pens officially the leagues most hated team. Hope they go down in flames! Pun intended.

A 1st round pick from a cup contending team is a horrible deal when you add it to the prospects they got.
