Some might already be on the list.. Just off the top of my head.

Terrible list in all.
That would mean Nino isnt on the list at all?

Below Schultz, Bjugstad, and Nelson. In the same tier as Zucker, Bennett, Kerdiles, and Shore.

He's actually played 64 games my friend. He's been caught in limbo. HF phases out players who've played [65] NHL games (or if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday). It can all be found here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect/

They key part is listed at the very bottom,

Quote:
NOTE: These are general guidelines and should be followed the majority of the time but certain players may still be listed as prospects if circumstances warrant. Also, for players that are close to either the 65-game (skaters) or 45-game (goaltenders) benchmark but have also clearly "arrived" as NHL players, HF reserves the right to remove these players from consideration as prospects and instead consider these players graduated.
And let me get my white knight stuff on and defend Kreider. I actually had a great conversation on HFboards about luck and situation in a thread about Blake Wheeler, and I feel like this summarizes my thoughts on the player.

Quote:
I often wonder about the role of circumstance in player development and how it all comes down to chance. Turris (another bit of a project pick) is a great example of that I believe. He struggled to find his footing in Phoenix, but seems to be putting things together in Ottawa. A player is only as good as his situation and how well his skillsets serve the style of of play of the team.
Kreider's buried in New York, and as good as his raw skillset is, he might never get a chance to play in a consistent role in which he will thrive and play the kind of game he excels at. People look at the point totals in his stint in the NHL (as they do with a lot of players) as a gauge of his success, but the points aren't illustrating everything. I feel like in a different situation, Kreider's getting a lot more love.

Now come on guys, lets hype up Kreider to San Jose rumors or something.

Thanks for reading the installments thus far. It's my first time on the committee, and getting to be on the other side of the comments is both humbling and hilarious.

I know sometimes people like to ask HF staff of their thoughts, so if I have time (I'm behind on my San Jose stuff and my editor is probably mad I'm on HFboards haha) I'll answer a few things. All I ask is... before you ask a question, just for comradery sake--post a list of your top 10 prospects.

The list is almost as bad as Kadri not being on it in the last rankings.

Why not? Public forum. People say here much worse stuff than that. Even on TSN, as we remember from last night.

I'm allowed to have an opinion right?

I think the cutoff is 65? Maybe?

Anyways, before you guys form a lynch mob, Lehner, Brodin, and Trouba have all had huuuge jumps since the preseason ranking. Lehner and Trouba have moved up 20+ spots, and Brodin moved up 10. HF is usually fairly conservative with their mid-season rankings, so let's give it until at least the offseason before we burn anyone at the stake for being 5/10 spots off.

Nino kinda blew it last season, he shouldn't even have made the last top 50 IMHO.

Z-bad isn't a top-10 prospect . In the range of 11-20, maybe.

Meanwhile Silfverberg and Lehner shouldn't be that low. The Lehner thing has become especially ridiculous because it seems to have been going on for a while now.

I could understand if the list tended to rate prospects like Kreider and Smith higher than guys with bigger ceilings because they were NHL ready. That's understandable, and if the list were consistent with things like that, I could get behind it more.

In this instance however they have two very similar prospects in Lehner and Markstrom playing similar games in the NHL/AHL at a similar age. For while now though they've rated Markstrom a lot higher without any objective reasons for doing so.

I hate using stats to make arguments but by any objective criteria, Lehner is destroying the opposition in the NHL.This isn't a prospect who has come from nowhere either, Lehner has been good for a while.

I'm not even trying to say Lehner is going to be better than Markstrom. Markstrom has been great on a very bad Florida team, which is an arguably a more difficult task than the one facing Lehner, and I expect a long career for him. I think they're both very good prospects.

With that in mind however, another list has come out and, again, one is rated a lot high than the other. There doesn't seem to be any logic behind it anymore either. Is there really 30 better NHL prospects than Lehner right now?

I could understand the argument that when Lehner was drafted he was "less likely to meet his potential". Realistically he was pretty raw. I can't fathom however why two such similar prospects are STILL considered to have different ceilings. Lehner is still listed as a 7.5C and Markstrom is still an 8.5C. By HF's ratings, Lehner, even if he reaches his potential, won't be be able to hold down a starting role. By HF's logic, the best Lehner can hope for is a career like Dwayne Roloson IF he does things right.

Does anyone who watches the NHL seriously believe that the best Lehner can hope for is becoming Martin Gerber?

I personally don't know what Murray did this season to lower himself under 2 other defensemen(I assume Reilly gets top 10) other then get injured.

I'm not even talking about "my teams prospects"... there's all sorts of wrong here all over the place throughout all 50 it seems.

This almost seems random. A lot doesn't make any logical sense.

Like, take for example Hockey's Prospectus' list; I may not agree but I understand what he's doing.

This??? Oh dear... I can't even point out to single problems because it's such a mess so far.

Thank you. Just a pissing contest of "my team's prospect is ranked too low, it's criminal! How can they rank player x ahead of him?!"

Literally every team in the NHL could make a case for one of their prospects dethroning one of the ones on this list. It's even more comical to see people put down other prospects to make themselves feel like their prospect is still valuable.
