An MRI Wednesday revealed a re-tear of the anterior capsule in Johan Santana's left shoulder.
What a bummer. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said there is a "strong possibility" that Santana will require another surgery. The operation would knock him out for this season, and, given that it took him nearly two years to come back from the surgery the first time, the 34-year-old's career would definitely be in jeopardy. Santana is owed $25.5 million this season and has a $5.5 million buyout for 2014. The contract is not insured.
