Even the Ottawa announcers were saying the Rangers just play safe grind it out hockey. That they rely on Lundy and the defense to keep things within one-two goals and keep hanging around. They also pointed out that we only scored around 43 goals in 20 playoff games last season.

I'm glad I haven't wasted a dollar this year on this joke of a "team".

Don't know about you guys but this game was cathartic, better than breakup sex.
I'm not going to be emotionally invested in this te anymore and it will be easy until that mother ****ing coach is fired!

A few thoughts:
1. Miller isn't ready but at least he has gotten some experience
2. Gaborick must go and soon he has to fkn go
3. Bring up mcilrath the 21 yr old d to show our grown men on d how to play with a pair. It's sad how soft they play scared to clear Neil from in front of net so fkn sad to watch.
4. We won't beat Pitt this yr and one move won't do **** so maybe this callapse keeps the senile old **** from over reacting with stupid trade!
5. Make Hank the captain he is one of few players with the balls to make a difference.

So next 4 are Montreal, Winnipeg and 2 against Pittsburgh?

LOSS
LOSS
LOSS
LOSS

and that ought to do it for the Rangers season.

You can't teach hockey sense and Miller's is off-the-charts negative. But he's got JAM.

Carlson can actually shoot the puck and hit the net, something that eludes Del Zotto.

McIlrath has the skill set to be a 3rd pair NHL defenseman. But he's got JAM.

The difference being, if Torts opened it up and told them to play an offensive system, do you honestly think we would turn into the Penguins?

No, because the players on the ice aren't talented enough to put the puck in the net like that. THAT part isn't coaching, its the talent.

Even so, if Dupuis was traded here, he would have more goals than any player on this team

Nash is a goal scorer. Hagelin, Stepan & Cally chip in a goal once in awhile. Richards & Gaborik are epic busts this season.

The rest of the forwards and the defensemen are a collection of inept goal scorers, that few NHL teams have dared put onto the ice

Not sure why people get on Miller so much. He's a very young rookie, he made one bad mistake tonight but many more good plays and scoring chances. If he can really find a way to start putting the puck in the net he'll be a really good player.

At any rate, I think it's pretty clear that it's too late for the team to "get it together" or "find consistency". The team is what it is, and what it is isn't good enough.

I like a lot of what Tortorella does, what he demands of his players, how he handles them and works with young guys, etc, but his system isn't working with this team. Either the player mix isn't right or other teams have figured it out or whatever, it just isn't working and it isn't going to start working. The no pressure, collapse and block shots thing is a huge reason why their offensive is anemic, since every breakout they have allows the other team time to get back into the neutral zone and force a turnover at the blue line, or for the Rangers to dump the puck in. And guys just don't seem to be in positions to make plays at all, and I don't know what to blame that on except coaching at this point. No one ever gives their linemates very good puck support in any zone, and too many designed plays are for guys standing still along the boards or in the neutral zone

A huge part of this problem is also Gaborik playing exceedingly poorly. He is invisible at best pretty much every night, can't shoot the puck anymore, doesn't actually even attempt to shoot the puck most of the time.

Eh.

Time to do something and that something really shouldn't be focused on attempting to salvage this season. Trade some guys, find a new coach, whatever it is, this current arrangement has proven to be a poor one

19, 22 and 20. Two of them are D-men who take a much longer time to develop. By your standards, we would have given up on Dan Girardi and Ryan Callahan a long time ago.

I feel that! *internet fist bump*

I'd be down to give McIlrath a cup of coffee up here. Can't be worse than Hamrlik.

I miss Staal Anyone still think he's not this team's best defenseman?

Really wish the Pens could embarrass us before the trade deadline so Sather doesn't do something stupid.

Calling J.T. Miller a bust simply means you don't know anything.

I don't think there is any doubt that that is going to happen. Superstar pens are gonna make these Rangers look like a beer league squad.

Hank to the Blackhawks, and I become a full-time Hawk fan.

This franchise is like staying in an abusive relationship hoping for them to change.

I often wonder what its like to be a fan of not even just a good team every year, but one that actually scores.

That feeling is so foreign to me.
