What about the talent though? I think that is what you are looking for, like in a Cutler or a Flacco, the performance doesn't have to be great, just give the team as much talent as you can and coach it up properly. I'm not impressed with Kiffin's ability to get the most out of his players, not yet anyway. Barkley has a great arm, not the strongest but accurate and pretty strong, good size.

I'm not sure he's more talented than a lot of other guys though. If he played at Iowa State or Arizona, you probably wouldn't even be talking about him.

Not sure how you could be a #1 overall talent with a weak arm, questionable decision making skills and happy feet.

Sounds like a good scouting report to me.... if you're a kicker.

We'll find out in the next coming years. I am interested to see where he goes. I do think he needs to start out on the bench though.

He looks like Mark Sanchez and Matt Leinart all mushed up together minus the terrible intangibles.

Blech, those guys couldn't hold his jock, not sure what you were watching. Those two were basically high school QB's. I'm not saying Barkley is perfect but he has way more upside than those two scrubs.

Leinart won a Heisman... He was pretty damn good in college.

They all had incredibly talented surrounding casts and poor conference defenses to make them look good. Well except for Barkley and Sanchez against Stanford and Oregon.

I think Carroll maxed those other two out. I don't think Kiffin scratched the surface. That's defniitely a big part of it for me.

Normally when a player has hit his ceiling, he either skates at the top for a while or starts a decline. Barkley looks like he's starting his decline already like Leinart and Sanchez did.

@adamjahns: Miami Dolphins have signed OG Lance Louis. #Bears had hoped to keep him.
Well, bye bye Lance Louis. Would have liked to have him back, even though it was doubtful he would play much this season. Still, draft me an elite Guard and I'll be happy regardless.

McShay's mock just came out

Quote:
20
Tyler Eifert*
Chicago Bears (10-6)
COLLEGE: Notre Dame
AGE: 22
HT: 6-5
WT: 250
POS: TE

Analysis: The signing of OT Jermon Bushrod has shored up the offensive line, with J'Marcus Webb holding down the other tackle spot and Gabe Carimi sliding inside to guard. And while the Bears did bring in TE Martellus Bennett through free agency, he's not a consistent commodity. New head coach Marc Trestman knows how to create and exploit mismatches, and Eifert's versatility in the passing game would make a valuable weapon. With his ball skills and ability to stretch the middle of the field, Eifert could help take Chicago's offense to the next level.
In the 2nd, we get Kevin Minter.

Notables
Warmack- 8
Cooper- 12
Austin- 13
Ogletree- 15
Fluker- 19
Te'o- 28
Long- 47
Arthur Brown not taken

I'll be pissed if we draft a TE in the first round. Don't forget D and that line.

I get BPA and all, but I would be SHOCKED if the Bears take Eifert. McShay has demonstrated clearly over the years that he is VASTLY out of touch with what team's current needs are and translating that into draft selection. We could have 3 Pro-Bowl Defensive Ends, and he would have us taking BPA DE in the first round.

I could really only see it if no one falls that they like and they can't get a suitor to trade down with.

There are definitely bigger needs, but I wouldn't be opposed to taking a TE early. I'm glad we have Bennett, but it doesn't hurt to have two quality TEs. Look how dangerous NE can be with Gronk and Hernandez. And outside of Bennett, our TEs kinda blow.

I would not be pissed at all if the Bears took Eifert with their 1st, but only if Tyler is truly the BPA at that point. I do love the idea of Marshall/Jeffrey/Bennett/Bennett/Eifert with Forte, that could/should and perhaps be offensive gold with Trestman as HC. But if the Bears take Eifert knowing a guy like Cooper, Warmack, or Jones (which is possible, tho unlikely) is available, then I would be madder than a disturbed bee nest. But if Bears needs like Cooper/Warmack or Jones are not available, I'd happily celebrate the Bears taking Eifert (especially if they take either Minter or Brown in the 2nd) in the first.

Mcshay's draft is so bad, especially if you read his reason why he has teams taking who they will

yeah but they run a 2 TE set and we don't, NE use their TE as recievers we mainly use them for blocking and the occasional screen and redzone play.

TE in our offense is a wasted pick IMO.

thats why they got Bennett he can block and he can catch if we need him to, but i wouldn't expect him to be worked to much into the passing game.

but who the **** knows whats happening now they want to use a run read option to open up big plays, maybe finally we can use an effective play action this year. we just need a good fast deep threat WR.

i think the biggest thing for Cutler and very basic is to get him to throw the ball away when no one is open. My biggest pet peve with him is when he can't find anyone and he takes a sack instead of throwing it away.
