Time for the Flyers to draft and develop a good defenseman or two. Can't expect to buy them all the time.
Dead on. They remind me of the per-lockout Rangers in that they have wads of money to spend, are always one of the top teams in payroll, yet they can't fix areas of weakness or build from within at key areas of the ice.
Like when Nashville matched for Weber, if Holmgren felt Poile was asking too much for Weber, there are still many experienced, physical D men out there in the league. It's not like every GM in the league would be demanding a king's ransom.
D prospects, yes. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...12-13-seasons/
these guys who in this September article were claimed by the author to be expected to have a big season.
Gustufsson, Manning, and Shayne however you spell it.
There is also Marc-Andre Bourdon.
Some of these guys show promise to someday be decent second pairing D or good third pairing D.
just 2 short years ago...
Meszaros was arguably our best d that year, Carle was great when paired with Pronger (who played over half the season that year), and Kimmo was on the cusp of slowing down but not really there yet; was still able to log 25-27 minutes easily.
I went to the whale vs phantoms game last saturday when the phantoms beat the stuffing out of the whale. Lilja doesn't look bad on the AHL, he actually does a very good job. Too bad it just doesn't translate well into the NHL.
Also, Why didn't Boosh sit with the team during the game? He sat in the runway for the away team locker room and came out after the game to congrats the team.
Ed "shifty eyes" Snyder, what no more goons we can sign long term? Karma baby. So glad Nashville matched the offer sheet for Weber. Pens win the cup and go to Philly for the draft and are booed big time. Shero...I would like to thank the city or brotherly love for that warm reception.
