Goons and heavyweights are usually just picked up off waivers since they're irrelevant and most GMs don't want to give up assets for plugs who play 5 minutes a game or less.

I'm thinking putting in an offer sheet for RFA Ryan McDonagh would be something exciting to do this summer. The scandal. Or, more realistically, perhaps try and acquire Magnus Paajarvi through a trade or offer sheet. He's had a difficult development in Edmonton, up and down stats-wise and (surprisingly) not hugely over valued on these boards. He has a ton of potential, could become a very good second or third liner for the Habs. With the way Eller has matured and the steps he's taken, perhaps Paajarvi could do the same.

Jagr?!!!!!! (expensive, almost retired, won't follow Therrien's system?)

Kovalev is available and he's free!

Erskine
Sarich
Robidas
and more...
Who would be available for a decent price?

We need a dman...it's pretty obvious imo (slow-as-a-turtle-but-at-least-healthy-for-once-Markov needs some help...and I want a fresh Subban and Gorges in playoffs....and of course really hope Diaz comes back a 100% healthy).

I don't want to wait for one of our top 3 dmen to get injured...
Let's get that #4-5 dman now (at a decent price...wouldn't overpay at all).

I think Cory Sarich for a 5th rounder type of deal is what MB is looking for...

Would he even be an upgrade on Weber and Tinordi?

Well, he's physical, or wase. I believe he's too slow for everything at this point. Plus our 5th rounder is gold to us

Signed through next season at 2 M. Unless they take back Kaberle, no chance we do that deal.

Clowe still has 0 goals.

Doesn't stop SJ fans for wanting Kristo and the CGY 2nd for him though. Guess they think we owe them a favor after Gorges/Max Pac pick for Rivet or something.

They have shown us over and over again, the little engine that could. I would give the young guys a shot and not replace them or cut their ice time for some rental plug that did not fight to get them where they are right now. Let Eller,Gallagher, Galchenyuk keep doing what they are doing, heck I have no problem with Tinordi staying either.

There is no guarantees in the playoffs and things can go wrong, all the moves Pittsburgh has made can win them a cup but they can also go out in the first round(I would love that). Considering the fact that we were so low last year and have made such progress, I would leave them alone. The guys in that room clearly believe in each other and are getting stronger. To lose Bourque,Diaz and Prust and still keep rolling is a very positive sign. I said before that we need a big defenseman but now i'm not so sure. I say for this year to keep going, then buy out Gionta in the summer, I expect Kaberle to either go at the deadline or retire and then we can go for it next year with a couple additions in the summer.

Habs should try getting O'Byrne or O'Brien from the Avs if they really want to patch up their D. They both suck this year but so do the Avs in general. Plus O'Byrne is soon to be UFA. It wouldn't be a bad experiment if the price is low enough and it should be in their case.

Otherwise it's I'm with Craig71, we should just go with what we have. This team wasn't supposed to be there anyway

I agree with posters regarding our forwards. Being healthy now is the big thing. If Prust and Bourque can come back than our forwards are fine. It would be nice to replace Armstrong with a guy like Boll, but for his role he hasn't been bad at all. Least of our worries really.

I would like to see them upgrade on D. Getting a top 3 guy. The Flames are taking offers for Bouwmeester and I think he would be great here. Him and Subban top pairing, each playing 25 min a night, would give us one of the best top pairings in the league. He would also take some pressure off of Markov. I heard he has given the Flames a list of 6 teams he would accept a trade to. Anyone know who they are?

O'Byrne?? Really??? That's an experiment I'd have no interest in re-visiting.

I read it was 6 teams have shown interest, not a specific list.

I'd be all for JayBo. He isn't a #1, but he's a heck of a #2 or #3 D. Feaster can be taken to the cleaners once more.

And a year from now you can get a king's ransom for him if you won't re-sign him.

Clowe is slow.
Can he fit in Habs lineup?

Prust is fast. Faster than Clowe.

Now Kristo for Clowe won't happen.

We could consider Kristo for Couture or Vlasic.
Or Kristo for Hertl (But Kristo is nearer to NHL: next year at worst).

I don't see MB trading prospects and/or picks except if assets or picks are coming back the other way.

Ah, I just read that too. I heard it on the radio yesterday when they were interviewing him after the Iginla trade. I misheard. Thought they said he gave the six teams. My mistake. Nonetheless, I'm a big fan of his, and would love to see him in our lineup. Give the our depth dmen less responsibilities/minutes.

He still at 0...so that answers if he drives to the net Kristo will be a nice NHLer.

Bouw has a 6.7 mill cap hit. That is pretty steep. I'd rather Giordano.

Me too. He wouldn't come cheap though. I'd have no problem giving good value for him but wouldn't want to overpay. Back off if the bidding war got too much. The package I would be willing to give up is two prospects and one of our 2nd's. Our prospect depth are at RW and defense. The only prospect I would not give up is Tinordi. I wouldn't want to part with Beaulieu either, but would listen. Wouldn't give up much more than him though. Prefer one of Thrower, Ellis, Dietz, etc. But you have to give quality to get it, so I don't know.
