If you added Boumeester, how much do you think it would help? Question for Flyer fans.
I can almost guarantee that if we're adding anyone, it's in the offseason. There is no incentive to pay a trade deadline premium on players when we literally are 3 point s out of the worst team in the league.
Furthermore, with a coaching change likely on the horizon, it would be nice to bring in personnel that fit our new system rather than just throw together players as we have done over the last few years.
Why is it that the Flyers are not allowed to have a bad year? Last year they had 103 points. Their core is all under 25. Do they need D? Yes. Is now the time to do it? NO!! Be sellers for once. Hard to do with the injuries but do what you can. Bite the bullet and trade a F for a D-man. Run with 2 scoring lines instead of 3. CHANGE COACHES TO MATCH THE PERSONEL!!!
Funny to see fan of Toronto bashing the Flyers when you are finally going to make the playoffs. Congrats.
The Flyer D-corps is not real all that bad, it's just not really put together well. Timonen still plays at a high level but he can't play the minutes that he has in the past. After him you have Coburn, Schenn, and Grossman who are all good defensively but lack any real offense or puck moving ability. So their transition game tends to be awful.
Given the likelihood that Timonen will retire soon (maybe after next year), they need to add two guys this offseason; ideally one from the draft (Seth Jones) to develop into the #1 guy, and one veteran (either UFA or trade) who is mobile and can move the puck. Trading for a #1 guy is not likely imo, teams just don't go around trading those kinds of players.
