Finally some logic in this thread. One of these promising kids for a dozen of regular season + undetermined # playoffs games rental is more than a fair deal.

I think something around Gelinas would work.

As a Devils fan I'd do it. Urbom could easily be a solid NHL player and I bet he could be a #5 or #6 this season on some teams. I'd even throw another later pick to sweeten the deal. Jagr would help us immensely.

This definitely seems to be the most logical place for Jagr to go assuming Dallas is willing to trade him.

I'm going to hold out hope Dallas can get Severson even though I know it will be tough. Like I said, I believe Dallas would add for him. However, I will not be disappointed if Urbom is the primary piece coming back.

Would NJ have any interest in Philip Larsen btw? I'd hate to see him traded, but I don't if just the coach or both the coach and GM have lost confidence in him. IMO, he's still got Top 4 potential. I ask because maybe Dallas could do Jagr + Larsen and a pick if they could get Urbom and Severson.

Eh, makes sense to me.

Traded to the Devils, sign with the Islanders in the offseason and he'll have completed his career circuit of the Patrick division.

I can't see the Devils having any interest in Larsen.

It would be tough to give up Severson, but he's probably at least 2 yrs away from being factored into any NHL role at the earliest. The Devils were surprised he was still there in the 2nd round when they took him.

My guess though is the Devils would prefer to give up Urbom, but might be talked into Severson as I don't see them being willing to give up either Merrill or Gelinas as it sounds like the Devils have plans for Gelinas winning a role on the big club next season and he offers a nice skill-set from the back-end as a converted forward with speed, size, and a nice shot. Defensively, he needs some work still, but there's a nice base of skills to work off of.

I would love to see Jagr in the red and black. Severson is such a tough prospect to consider giving up, but I would have to think very hard about it.

Yeaaa...not liking the severson for Jagr talk...I get that Dallas likes him and all...but thats not worth it for a 41 year old who'd play max like 30 games

Well, considering Jagr is pure evil, I think it's a pretty good fit.

Woah, my apologizes! I didn't even realize Fayne was that young. I thought he was more around 27 or so.

Having said that, we're still going for a bit younger. Fayne is interesting though, for sure.

Just wondering why Stars would trade Jagr for a prospect when they are 3 points out of 8th?

They already shipped out their captain for a prospect.

Obviously if they think they can make it they'll keep him, but with the West being as tight as it is Joe might want to commit to a rebuild.

All of the teams ahead of the Stars are better, as well as a few of the teams around them. I think alot will be determined by what happens in their 3 games before the deadline.

people have to understand if an offer is accpeted it would have to be an overpayment and when your competing with other teams on overpaying it would probably become a rather large overpayment

I'd give up Severson in a heartbeat. We have like a bajillion defensive prospects that are good. Gotta start unloading theme eventually.

But some of this **** like Merrill and a 1st is pure dreaming.

Yes and no. GM Joe is a curious dude. Basically, he was never going to re-sign Morrow. He didn't want him back next season. After being burned by losing assets for nothing, he's learned to trade his assets.

However, Morrow really wasn't that big of a contributor to Dallas. He had some points this year, and he actually played well a handful of games this year ... but he doesn't make or break Dallas' playoff chances. They have young guys that will easily replace him.

Now ... reports indicate they can't sign Roy even though they want to. Same thing applies here though, he'll trade him rather than lose him for nothing. Unlike Morrow, losing Roy does hurt their playoff chances. At that point, IMO, it doesn't make sense to not be a seller.

Most people don't believe Jagr will be traded. If he signs a contract extension, I'm fine with keeping him. However, if he won't sign, IMO they have to ship him out ... just like Morrow and Roy. Unfortunately, some think they won't do that because they really believe that even if they can't sign Jagr right now, they'll be able to sign him in the summer. They don't want to ruin that relationship. I think it's BS, but that's just my opinion.

You mean like how us Pens fans had to watch him sign with the Flyers??? He was a bigger impact in Pitt then in NY by far.
