Josh Burnside is interesting. Leafs are probably quite familiar with him as he plays with Percy on the Steelheads. Solid, unspectacular player. Leads rookies in playoff scoring currently. Late round pick.

Remi Elie is highly intriguing. Plays a power forward game, but hasn't gotten much playing time for a deep Knights team. Displays good instinct and physical play though. Could be a good project pick with good offensive upside. Know an OHL scout who loves him.

Mantha is playing well in the Q playoffs. Still a big fan of his in the mid first. Curiously he's done it with a less effective Zlobin which is a good sign. Points to him being less reliant on players around him. Teammate Vincent Dunn has been effective as well.

Samuel Morin - big 6 foot 6, 203 pound dman in the Q. Currently has 5 points in 4 playoff games which is a huge increase in PPG from his regular season. He's big, strong and tough and could be seeing some development in his offensive game. As a late round project pick, you could do a lot worse.
I am very intrigued by this guy looks like a good project for sure but dont think he lasts pass the 3rd round.

I hope it's just the grind of a long season affecting him, but by all accounts Mr. Gauthier has been awful recently. I'm just not sold on him, would rather Zykov/Mantha if we're sticking with the Q around there.

Also small sample size, but Wennberg has 3pts in 3 games in the playoffs.

Ill be very disappointed if Zach Fucale is on the board when we pick and we pass on him. I think he has as much upside as any goalie prospect since Carey Price. He kind of reminds me of him too. Both are insanely poised.

Wonder what it would take to move up into the 7-12 range. That's probably the range Risto will fall into

Going to suck seeing him potentially don a Sabres/Flyers jersey.

I like Mantha, Domi, Zykov for forwards

Mueller, Pulock, Ristolainen for defensemen

Looks like we will be drafting 16-22 range this year baring a complete meltdown. Going to be interesting who are scouts have on their radar, I suggest OHL and WHL focus is where we usually go. With Nonis on board, we may go Euro but I believe he is going to let our scouts make this pick. I still like Hartman as one of my targets. Plymouth may be the team to beat in the OHL this year, looking very strong thus far this playoffs.

From 16-22 range? I'm just guessing, next year's 1st? Or a pair of 2nds? Seems the cost of moving up keeps increasing...hate to say it but it's better to sit back and see who falls to you.

There will be some good players available in this range...maybe Gauthier, Lazar, Domi, Rychel, Erne, Wennberg, Morrisey and Fucale. There is always the possibility that some higher rated players could also drop.

Pulock seems to have fallen down a lot of people's lists.

Everyone gives stupidly high costs every year for moving up and they rarely hold up to the evidence.

It cost the Sabres a 2nd to move from 21 to 14.

The Leafs apparently considered moving back to the 12 (the Sabres picks) in a deal that would have been the 12th overall, 21st over for the Leafs 5th and 35th overall.

I doubt that it would be two 2nds to move from like 18-20 to the early teens. Top 10 might be a little more difficult but nowhere near as expensive as people think.

I just don't think teams value these picks as highly as some fans do. Even in a draft like this. It will be hard to come by the "elite" picks (so like top 1-7 or 1-8) but I wouldn't bet against movement of picks. We've already seen three first rounders move, and seven 2nds.

Curtis Lazar scored 2 goals last night, bringing him to 4 in 5 playoff games (he has no assists however). As the stakes go up, so does Lazar's game. As I've been saying for a while now, this guy is bordering on top 10 pick. It's too bad it doesn't look like we'll have the opportunity to take him.

A guy who is having a great playoffs for Oshawa is Bradley Latour. Someone whose stock will continue to rise depending on how far they go. Carter Verhaeghe was arguably more dangerous than strome in the series.

He asked the cost of moving up to the 7-12 range...we paid a 2nd and 3rd to move up 2 measly spots from 7 to 5 in 2008...so imho if we're looking to go from 21 to somewhere in the 7-12 range I don't think I'm way off...if it's closer to 12 then I think a pair of 2nds, if it's closer to 7 I think we're lookin at next years 1st...this is mostly based off what we paid to move up 2 spots to get Schenn. What did we give up in the Tyler Biggs trade up again? Was it a high 2nd to move up from 30 to 22? Another thing to take into account, is that every draft seem to have some 'tiers'...this year I think it's somewhere around the top 12 that looks like above the rest (to me)...sometimes you have to pay extra to get into that 'tier'...

Thoughts on this mock:

Thoughts on Bo Horvat being projected to us at 21?
