Simmonds and its not even close. He would be a fan favourite here right away. He's a top 6 forward version of Prust and is even better at fighting.

I wouldn't mind Hartnell, and he might be available. He's not having a terrific season but he's not exactly old. He's a good troll so he'd be a good fit on the Habs

A lot. My guess is roster player + prospect and a 1st or 2nd depending on who the players were.

They need help on D.

He brings a lot to the flyers and his salary cap is a little bit under 4 M... They could probably ask for what ever they want, lol. A 1st and a prospect or a 2nd and two prospects.

Probably because all the locker room agreed with management after the decision was made. It was a well received (anticipated) decision

Anyways, I hope the habs don't make any trades regarding our youth. We are missing a few more pieces that can really make us a contender. Unless management is giving up on a player like Leblanc, he may well turn around and be our shutdown C that can score. Who knows at this point after an injury plagued year.

Clowe is not the answer, especially if we have to give up considerable assets. I would much rather see what our first 3 picks turn out to be, than have Clowe for 20 games.
I don't think we should trade any picks, to anyone, higher than a 3rd rounder, for any rental. This year will be our chance to restock with some awesome talent that will serve us well for many years!

HARTNELL. Now that's some I like.

Simmons too. But HARTNELL is what we need. Problem is we'll have to give them Tinordi or Beaulieu + 1st rounder plus a roster winger to make it happen.

Agreed. However, if you can land a player who is amenable to re-signing with us, then it's a slightly different story. I still wouldn't pay a huge premium, and probably therefore not outbid others on the deadline hyper-market. But if you pay the price and have a solid line on getting a player who will improve the team over a longer timeframe than the 20 games remaining this season, it's worth considering.

I would easily give Beaulieu + 1st 2014 for Simmonds

Simmonds is only 24 and he's on pace for 63 points. He brings it every night and is signed for 6 years.

Oh, and he can fight.

Simmonds is still only 24. It'd be a late first and he is definitely worth it. You know exactly what you're getting with him.

Simmonds is everything you can hope to get with a late 1st rounder. Actually, it's more.

I'd give a 1st without thinking twice.

He's never scored 30. Ya he can fight? But he isn't even 200 lbs so he will always be at a disadvantage against the likes of Lucic. I would not offer a 1st.

He's probably not on the block and would cost a ton, not the right time or place for that type of trade. We need to keep our top prospects and picks.

I like this post.

That is exactly how I feel about Gionta. He is a good player but he should not be in our future plans.

The ideal team for Gionta to be traded to is the New Jersey Devils. He would waive his NTC in a heartbeat for the opportunity to play with his brother.

Gionta for Clarkson. Workable?

Whats with the obsession of fighting Lucic? No one has to fight him. Prust chose too..

The fact that Simmonds will stick up for his teammates and himself is just a huge plus. You don't trade for him based on who he can fight. You're getting a top 6 winger who plays a real powerforward gritty game and wont back down.

although since we're on the topic of fighting Lucic, im 100% sure he could handle himself fine against him. Better than Prust because of his long reach.
