We would have had a bit too much defence if we signed DeKeyser.

The way it sounded, it was up in the air. I read an Oilers column by a guy who claimed to have been in a bar with DeKeyser in Toronto. He said he thought the Oilers had a 50% chance of signing DeKeyser.

Welcome to the division Danny, can't wait to see Vanek make a fool out of you in front of the net next year.

Trade White. Waive Huskins.

Send Lashoff down until the deadline, if you have to.

Nice to win a sweepstakes for a change, even if the wings were the odds on favorite.

Sproul, Ouellet, and Dekeyser. You have to think at least 1 of them should be a top 4 guy.

This signing doesn't push them to top 3, I'd say top 10.

Get Lashoff out of the top6 and put this guy in. Hopefully when Quincey comes back he can even steal a job from someone like White/Ericsson.

DeKeyser is an obvious significant addition for the DET organization. 2nd best young dman in the org for them now behind Smith.
Mr. Pronman seems to think a lot of him.

I haven't been this excited about a College Free Agent since Matt Gilroy.

Bottom pairing d-man now, should be a #3 eventually, is like Brad Stuart with more offense

From what I've read, he sounds like Ryan McDonagh. Sounds like he could play sheltered minutes right now, maybe more s he adjusts.

I've never watched him though. So take my opinion on this with a grain of salt.

I think we had to guarantee a roster spot for him? If so, I'm thinking we trade White and possibly Huskins.

I can't even think of a good under-25 defenseman on Detroit apart from B. Smith. Seems about right.

Kindl is better than both right now but he's 26-27 I believe.

Yeah Ericsson's locked in now. Since he came back from his injury late last season he's been much better.

He means in the prospect pool. So he's better than Sproul and Ouellet, who both are considered to be very good prospects. (I mean, one was basically a lock for Team Canada and the other almost made it.) Of course, Sproul is at a disadvantage because he's so tall.

Don't expect much from him in the short term, but I really hope he can be paired with someone like Sproul or Smith in the future - let them roam offensively and such. Glad this whole thing is over, and glad to add a promising kid to Detroit's pool of defenders.
