I love to see Simmonds in a Habs jersey he's tough can skate well and can score.

Simmons too. But HARTNELL is what we need. Problem is we'll have to give them Tinordi or Beaulieu + 1st rounder plus a roster winger to make it happen.
Maybe the very reason they are both getting their auditions on the prime time stage. I would'nt get rid of either, because an offensive D and a giant shut down D don't grow on trees.

NTC and a 5x5 contract. Unbelievable, Gainey must've had a mild stroke the days leading to July 1.
Gainey set this team back father than the Goat did. That half arsed FA rebuild that year netted us a conference final birth on the back of a super hot goalie and years of mediocrity and cap trouble following that.

I'd debate it but I would do it... Problem is Philly wants D, they are stuffed with forwards and no D

I wouldn't for Hartnell but I'd think long and hard about it for Simmonds though.

Would probably be more like Beaulieu + 1st + 2nd, imo. I'd do it, but our biggest problem is the center position. DD's not going to cut it in the playoffs.

They may want something more proven....but the basics are there.

we should pay the price to get either yandle or J bow Our defence would be awesome , Just think of Markov - Emelin PK - Yandle/J bow Gorges - Boulion. Thats real solid and with Price in nets. We would real hard to beat and with the forwards we have now We could generate enough offense to win lots of games

You realize we have Galchenyuk waiting in the wing, right ?

Center is actually a position of strength. We need a star winger and a big, physical bottom pairing winger... plus a Top 4 physical defensive defenceman.

Forget about this year playoffs, it's the future we need to think about.

To me that makes no sense with Tinordi Beaulieu and co on the way.

Bouwmeester will be a UFA in 2014 and has a big cap hit.

Yandle would cost a ton...Eller Beaulieu/Tinordi plus 1st...pass

I don't think we should forget about the playoffs...but not give up any big pieces of the future for a rental.

I'd love Simmonds, hell I'd give up a first for him, but this is tied with Eller + draft picks for Clowe as the worst proposal in this thread.

Agreed the future is bright but I feel we are missing a star winger potential in the ranks... My ideal world has
Star winger-chuckie-Simmonds type
Patches-Eller-gally
Unbelievable top 6 and on D
PK-gorges
Tinordi-beaulieu

We have a great future but we are missing those 2 pieces to be great

I don't see why he wouldn't accept a trade although I don't think Edmonton would want him but other teams probably would.

I see it as a "do you want to be traded or bought out type of situation" because if they ask Gionta to waive his NTC and he refuses, MB almost certainly will buy him out come summertime. I would think Gionta would rather be traded to a team that wants him instead.

Good thing Holmgren manages the flyers and not their fans. They seem very keen on immedited impact on their roster. Diaz is a top 4 now, Beaulieu, well, we'll see about his status. But basically diaz, a top 4 rh pmd ( which they dont have) who is also very cheap cap wise, a 1st & 2nd would be an attractive package.
