My understanding is that the Bruins kept suspending his contract so that the years wouldn't run out. So if he returns to North America, the Bruins own his rights and he has 1 year left on his contract to fulfill. I could be wrong but that's the assumption I am going on right now.

Yeah, but whatever the technical terms are, it's not the same situation as Silfverberg's. It might be the same situation in respect to whether he can play the playoffs, but it's not exactly the same situation in regards to the contract situation, so it's not completely comparable.

It's already in the thread but worth repeating

- Soderberg is not under contract, even an ELC
- Bruins own his rights until July 1, 2013 where he will become UFA if unsigned
- He is on the Bruins reserve list which means he can sign at anytime without having to clear waivers if/when he comes over
- He can sign at anytime (even after deadline) and be eligible for both regular season and playoffs.

Nice to know that he will fit right in if he comes over.
The same thing tends to happen to the Bruins all the time.

Doesn't matter, anyhow. The Penguins will find a way to steal him.

He still managed to go +/- 0 iirc, I personally couldn't watch that game (yup, they've won 5 straight since I've been able to watch, sorry about that), so I don't know how much he produced offensively in the first game. .
Please stop watching. You're obviously mucking things up for us...

Yesterday I was tired as hell, ended up falling a sleep and taking a nap. Apparently so did they.

It was 2-0, after the 2nd. Felt very strongly they wouldn't blow up that lead, but hey I'm getting used to those.

I know we want Soderberg over here asap, and for good reasons, but perhaps we should just wish him luck and whatever happens happens. You could absolutely argue that him helping his team to a championship will give him a high and help him over here, on the flip side if his team loses he'll be hungry to not lose again.

Ideally if you get him signed while the season is going on you give him a deal like

4 years 9.6 million. Basically You give him a deal that includes the 2012/2013 season as part of it. And since he will only get 1-2 game checks it really doesn't matter what he gets paid this year, so he gets the league minimum. Then you give him a competitive salary the next 3 years, and you've downgraded the cap hit by 20% or so

I'd rather get a winner.

All the anticipation of him playing here and ends up on a line with Caron and Peverley, thanks Claude.

Claude doesn't pick the players. You meant "Chiarelli."

Oh, okay then what hypothetical line would you put him on in his NHL debut?

Chances : 90%

When : As soon as his team is knocked out of the playoffs

Any hold back will come from his team or the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation

Lucic - Krejci - Peverley
Marchand - Bergeron - Seguin
Paille- Soderberg - Horton
Daugavins - Campbell - Thornton
