If we really wanted J-Bo I'm sure a 1st, Avtsin and Ellis could get it done.

Not really.

I mean, he could. I could also.

But is that the best thing?
Certainly not.

I'd rather keep Beaulieu than take Bouwmeester's cap hit. Anyway, isn't Beaulieu also projecting to be a good skating puck moving D? Our defense is great as it is right now, so I don't think JBo is the kind of player we should be after...

We really don't have the assets to be giving up a prospect like Beaulieu for a player with a contract situation like jbo.

I'd be interested in Jay Bo, but you can't have Beaulieu (who has 23 points in his last 46 AHL games as a 20 year old on a team that can't score).
true. But If you're gonna spend that much to acquire jay-playoff-beast-bowmeester, you damn well will want to keep him past next season no?

Kaberle + Gionta + Ellis

Sounds ridiculous but... might be some wisdom in there.... somewhere.

Markov, Subban, and Gorges, for the record.

If CGY gets more than a 1st rounder for him they should take the deal and run.

So it makes no sens imo to offer a 1st AND Beaulieu AND something else... Plus Bouwmeester doesn't fit in MTL, he's another lefty.

If Detroit is interested in him, I don't see how MTL matches what Detroit could offer. They can deal a 1st and some good forward prospects who are ready to step in, or further off prospects. They are just in a better position. And will be jumping East next year too. I don't imagine any scenario where an offer MTL could afford would match what DET could afford.

Yes hes playing his best like a guy DYING to get traded , but even so his 6.6mil cap hit makes him a non starter.

No way montreal gives up any first rounder for him. Regardless if its mid 20s or beyond.

I would pass on him because what he is actually worth is less than the flames want for him so my bet is either Feaster gets bent over again or he remains a flame.

No. Just no. Gorges is not anything like a 24 minutes d-man. The Habs actually got 2 guys who CAN play 24 minutes plus; Markov and Subban. Gorges playing 24 minutes a night involves a lot of offensive zone starts, which is really not ideal.

Don't you mean a lot of defensive zone starts and PK time? Which is basically what contributed to Gorges landing there last year. But he showed he CAN handle it, very effectively. The upgrade JBo would represent isn't worth paying a futures asset premium on IMHO. Again, it would just be a "luxury". Not a necessity or something worth making a concerted effort to pursue.

No they shouldn't. Bouwmeester has more value than Iginla did. He's younger and not a rental.

Jay-bo is soft, overrated and over paid. Why don't we settle on Smid who could be gotten for Montreal 2nd and a prospect. He stands up for his teammates, drops the gloves, hits, blocks shots. Resigned to a similar deal like Gorges we'd be set in shutdown defenceman. Maybe even weber and that 2nd.

Markov,Emelin
Subban,Georges
Smid,Tinordi
Boullion,Diaz

Good luck getting Edmonton to part with him. It's not like they're brimming with gritty players either.

I think Edmonton would take Weber and a second to save face because Tambellini can't lose him for nothing. When Smid sees the enviroment and future in Montreal I bet he'd sign quickly. Something similar to Georges. 5yrs-3.75 per

Objectively, you're wrong. Gorges can play 24 minutes a night... he's not having such a great season this year, I admit, but you can't just overlook his development in the last 5 years and especially his performances last year... The guy is great defensively, he definitely can put up 24 minutes.
