I think a lot of the Red Wing arrogance is an Original Six mentality, along with an extended period of success in the later Lidstrom era. I suspect it's also part of the Bruins' fans enmity toward the Pens, along with the aforementioned Ulf/Cooke/+ or - the color stealing incidents. Finally, for Bruins fans, toss in a little "anything west of Cambridge is Hicksville" mentality.

I have more of a problem with their moron fans than the team. Ill never understand how Boston fans get this holier than thou attitude when discussing the Yankees. The Red Sucks do the same thing.

I have noticed they wish injury on players a lot though.

Martin's injury is apparently karma for stealing Iginla from them.

You can't make this stuff up.

They're also going to create a Malkin watch thread. That'll really show us.

This is actually fascinating. It's like the woman who gets jilted by the married guy and instead of just moving on boils his bunny and tries to hack him death with a butcher knife.

I had always heard good things about the city, until recently.

My friend has been working there on an extended start up project, and wow, he has nothing good to say about the city. And he had also heard many positives regarding Boston. But he really hates working there, haha.

Been there many times on business. Lots of good things - cultural attractions being a product of all of the great educational institutions, great restaurants, nice geography. However, the people are generally pretty unfriendly, traffic really stinks, and just about everything is ridiculously expensive. Of course, none of that explains why their fans hate the Pens.

The whole "original six" thing is nothing but arrogance. If they want to go back to the days of six teams playing each other then the whole league would fail. Beating clothes on a rock used to be the best way to wash clothes too.

I like the city and I like a lot of Bostonians. I have some pretty good friends who live there. Their sports fans, however, seem to be pretty awful overall.

I don't think there is.

Play them in a Playoff series, then there will be some.

Boston is like the kid who tries to pick fights with the cool kids, just to be associated with them.

Cam Neely destroyed Cam Neely. When you take runs at opposing players and show no respect and it becomes part of your reputation, you just know a future surgeon's scalpel will be waiting for you one day.

saw that. apparently they know him on a personal level. saying he "doesn't want to be in sid's shadow any longer". gotta love when people blindly project they're own feelings on a matter and make it someone else's. i'm starting a "bergeron watch" thread. my gut tells me he would like to play here because he has a history with crosby. we would have 2 3rd lines instead of a 4th.

I hope they do play Boston, and crush them. New England/Boston area just have the worst fans.

he might of just passed away, but Boston fans should take a page out of Chinua Achebe's book and realize that "things fall apart" - there was no great conspiracy to deny them a hall-of-fame talent.

Haha, yeah I'm sure that book will cheer them right up. Then they can follow it up with On the Beach by Neville Shute.

I think everyone has had their chance to vent.

Would love to see another ECF between these teams. But until then...
